This is actually making a difference

I have been following for a while, and never thought that I could make a difference, but after a little effort, and a few minor (and aggravating) conversations with senior management, I feel I have contributed a little more than previously, and just because I have read people's stories here. Honestly, I would never have had the confidence to do this had I never read this sub, and the most important part, having unsolicited job offers after updating my LinkedIn profile ( and getting offers for much more money than I am making now) Yes, I realize I had the capability of doing this before, but I never wanted to risk my job, and I have some fault in this. This might turn out bad, but I just want to let you know my story, and just want you all to know that this sub is actually making a difference,…

effing government mandates return to office by April 1

BPO mean Business Process Outsourcing whereas in our country we have a huge BPO industry. We have been back to office since December (which I dread) but making this mandatory will make queue lines for trains and buses longer making commute harder than it is. I commute 2-3 hours in and out btw. https://preview.redd.it/dmorrm7uzvm81.png?width=590&format=png&auto=webp&s=b20481af8aa8da6b8dd788b313ca81f0d4a96aa1

I’ve got all these jokes about unemployment, but none of them work.

Supervisor being passive aggressive.

I work at a Kroger doing night stock currently looking for a new job, cause we are understaffed and the manager is not respecting our chosen hours. Two weeks ago I took a 5 day medical leave from my psychiatrist that said I was experiencing a burn out. Now tonight we have a snowstorm moving through our area and it rained most of the afternoon so any salt on the roads either couldn’t be put down or was washed away as the temp was dropping so icy roads either on my way in or most definitely on my way home. I called in cause I don’t want to get in a car wreak. My supervisor replied with “wow I’m surprised and I don’t know if I am getting the wrong signals of that message being passive aggressive toward me the most we has ever been. I have had full attendance…

Almost ALL the problems discussed here are old news for foreign workers. Kinda sickening.

Got paid less than advertised? Packed up everything and moved to a new place for a job only to get bamboozled? Forced to do work that was WAY out of the posted job description? Forced to work in highly unsafe conditions with inadequate PPE? Got fired when you dared to speak up – over and over? Got ignored when pointing out labour laws? Get told to “drop it” when the abusive employers are “too big to fail” ? Spent countless years of your life picking up pieces only to get it knocked down again? Get your work undermined by less qualified and ignorant management who do not know what the job actually entails? Get fucked over by authorities who have 0 intention of actually enforcing existing laws? pfffffft. BEEN THERE. DONE THAT. DECADES AGO. I feel y'all. But sometimes I also wonder if many on here have been living under…

Don’t bring up personal needs during pay negotiations?

I’ve brought it up to my boss that he said we could discuss a pay increase after a year. I reminded him lately and he promised to schedule a meeting with me. The time is approaching so I figured I would read some advice on pay negotiations and everything I see online mentions that you should never bring up personal needs because it’s a distraction from your performance. Is that not terrible advice? I don’t understand the logic. I’m working 12 hour shifts, constant overtime, and I’m not making enough to actually live a comfortable life. Every unexpected cost is an emergency situation and I can’t put money aside the way I want. Why would I not bring up the fact that what I’m getting paid isn’t sustainable? I plan on leaving eventually, despite liking my job, if it’s not going to be able to support my very simple life.…

fucked manager

edit: no i didnt fuck the manager I recently moved to a new area and went to pick up some pizza with my boyfriend. We were waiting for about 15 minutes once we arrived. For most of the time, at a table 5 feet from us, the manager was arguing with an employee. The employee was saying how she wasn't being paid on time, and wasn't getting paid enough either. I stopped listening closely as to not eavesdrop, but I heard the manager clearly say, “you can either get cash tips or card tips, you cant have both” and the employee said something like “well if we're going to have a card machine, then-” but he cut her off. I didn't hear much else but when they stopped talking the employee seemed upset about it. When we paid for our pizza, my boyfriend said “dude this seems like a horrible…

I found an awesome work place!

I have been apart of this sub for a few months now and during the pandemic I was unemployed. I am a disabled veteran and was able to barely survive but stay safe from the plague. I have been reading the posts on the sub religiously and lurking. I heard all the horror stories and learned vicariously through all of you what I was looking for. So, in February I decided it was time to find a job, something similar to what I did in the Navy (I did a lot of medical records). I realized I definitely had a skill that could be built on and not having a degree I really thought I couldn’t get a job with competitive pay and benefits but then….I did. I interviewed for a company doing workers compensation claims and my goodness this company is incredible! I not only was offered amazing health…
