Missing pay

My employer hasn’t paid me a little bit over 80 hours for the past 3 months and cut my commission check by 2/3 of what I was owed. They were one of the companies impacted by Kronos outage. I’ve been trying to straighten this out since the beginning of February when those checks were showing an issue. They had me call the company that handles our hr related questions, and they stated they wouldn’t help me as the whole company has been impacted by this and I wasn’t the only person with my paycheck shortened. I spoke with my manager and asked if they could escalate this as it was impacting how I pay bills. They used all their avenues to try and have this resolved. It finally was escalated to our HR rep and she stated it would be corrected 2 pay cycles away. I waited for the pay…

Burnt out Graphic Designer

So this maybe a bit of a vent post, but I hope others in my position or similar can relate. I’m a graphic designer (31m) and I’m contracted out from an agency to a very well known big name in podcasts. I have been on contract with this company since before the pandemic, the end of this year will count 3 years. It’s been well established that I am needed in this position, I add a lot of value and benefit to this company. However, when I bring up that I am interested in being brought on permanently, I’m given the run around, put off and sidelined. The company has even dove through a loop hole to extend my freelance contract by giving me a company email and workday account without actually hiring me to payroll. I’m so tired of it. I constantly feel like I’m not worth investing in,…

is there a codified list of large corporations that have gone back to full-time in office?

I understand this may not be the correct sub for this so delete it it isn't. I was just wondering if somebody has come up with a list of large corporations that have done that. I work in the field as a service technician in a particular occupation that does not allow for any remote work I have to physically be on site and sometimes it's many many sites throughout the day. I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that traffic has gone precipitously downhill and I was wondering if anybody has insight into how many people have returned back to the office in a full time basis.

Everything’s great until I mention the meds…

Asked to pass an exam before beginning job, after formal offer given and accepted. This is standard practice when working with kids in my state. I'm a teacher. Go into the doctor's office and disclose that I have depression and anxiety, managed with medication. I mean, it asks for medical conditions and how they're managed, right? Told by practitioner that per employer request, I needed a letter from my psychiatrist clearing me to work with children. Told that passing the medical exam was contingent upon this letter. Is this practice discriminatory? Is it legal? I mean, I have never been asked to do this before. Not even when I was starting as a classroom teacher for a public school. I have been on meds for depression and anxiety for twenty years. Even if it is, it still makes me feel like shit. Why would I want to trust my employer…

No Reward for You

Found out today that those who have been with this company exactly five years get £70 in vouchers for selected retailers. Its a new reward scheme they are bringing in, i guess to retain staff. I asked if it would be back dated for those who have been here longer. I.e me and a few colleagues (not many as high turn over) we have been here 6-8 years. I was told no. Thinking of going above my managers head to her manager and HR about how we dont feel appreciated. And to ask why. Why not back date for us lifers, as we call ourselves.

Was Fired For Questioning Decisions

Hello Anti-work. Today I was fired for “challenging” and never taking blame for other people's mistakes. I was recently hired at a company I had no experience with as a Director to which i had to learn everything on my own. There were other Directors who have had previous experience but they never helped me in any shape or form. They have always nit picked at everything I did when I was learning on my own. Up to this point I did everything I was required to do and always covered my tracks insuring everything was perfect so that my boss wouldn't have a reason to question my ability to perform at the job. The other Directors on the other hand half assed everything and blamed me for their mistakes. Whenever I tried to explain to my boss that I was trying to fix their mistakes or it wasn't me,…

Where to look for better paying work?

Realize that’s a bit of a outlandish question but I’m stuck getting the same pay no matter where I go, traditionally I’ve always worked in the restaurant/bar industry and am currently in sales for a large phone service provider, and am learning that sales isn’t exactly in my wheelhouse. I usually go to indeed for job searching but was wondering where else I could look to find something better. Thanks in advance.

I quit my job and then worked harder than I ever have: What ‘antiwork’ means to me

This is a long one. First off: I am a long-time union supporter and advocate for employee rights, work-life balance and societal safety nets. I am heartened to see people understanding and using their rights as an employee (even if in the US they are few and far between), and the resurgence of the union movement. This post is about my experience over the last 6 months, and what antiwork means to me. I am in a privleged position: the country I live in has stronger employee rights than many. My position in society and my education has enabled me to earn a wage comfortable enough to live on as a mid-30s childless woman. My employer was good, my managers human and supportive. I was even able to access free counselling. Despite this, the last 2 years have been tough. I'm a public servant: I worked hard supporting the COVID…
