So my employer takes 45 mins out of my day. I don't take lunches, or usually eat while I'm working or looking something up. I have found that it isn't federal law to take a lunch, just the 10in break 2x a day. Is this legal for them to do this, even tho I asked not to? And then they lied to me and said it's federal law … Any suggestions?
How do y’all cope with the job search?
I have honest-to-god applied to at least 50 jobs in the past week and more in weeks prior. I want to leave my job so bad but cannot afford to do it unless I line something up. All I can think about is job applications and I feel like I'm just throwing my resume at a brick wall over and over. Half of these “urgently hiring” companies can't even be bothered to send an email denying me, they just never say anything. I just don't get it. I have a college degree, lots of relevant work experience, etc… and the best (and only) job offer I've gotten pays less than my current job I want to leave. How do y'all keep going when job searching feels so demoralizing and dehumanizing?
Bad boss, bad review, bad raise
For the last 3 years I had a boss that not only didn’t fit with our culture, he was also biased against women. My performance suffered under him because he liked to micromanage (not our culture) and he really stressed me out. Coupled with another manager who was useless, and being short staffed, I got a bad review at year end. The useless manager was fired late summer, and when a woman took his role and became the other’s boss he quit. Because of my bad review I got a bad merit increase. I only got 1%. I wasn’t expecting much but with inflation being 7.48% I thought they might take that into consideration. I was wrong and I shouldn’t be surprised. My rent is being raised $250 per month because of a new management company, which I won’t be able to afford without overtime, so I’m essentially taking a…
So I went on an interview for a administrative assistant position at this new company 20 minutes from where I live. This company is from California they make eco-friendly cleaning supplies and car parts, this company along with a South Korean EV company are going to in partnership at the plant seling their products. So I go in and the interview isn't even an interview, I just mostly filled out forms and asked some basic questions which the interviewee couldnt answer. But she told me that the company would start production mid March. She then asked if I could do a drug test after the interview and 3 hours later I passed. She them told me it would take a while for the background check. So for 4 weeks I followed up and today I was told the postion is on hold without any indication what happens next. I am…
Pretty much the title’s the question. Can I as a job seeker just say hey I like the offer can we pin that wage to inflation, please? I’m sure I will be shown the door but hey tough times
“These workers just can’t take a joke”
Our life I should be more than work
We only have a short time on this earth. I spend at least 1/3 of it working and close to 1/3 of it sleeping. So I can only enjoy at most 1/3 of it. They say we are part of a modern society. This just seems so … unethical
