If Starbucks thought firing Memphis union leaders would silence us they—they are very much mistaken. Our movement is only getting stronger, and we know that we will win our jobs back, our union, and our fundamental human and civil right to organize!

Meritorious Capitalism Vs Gentrified Capitalism!

I like this forum, its causing me to hold my myself to a higher standard and if I could give a single piece of advice it would be – Dont alter your argument to make it seem more appealing to others or fit in, stay true to your core message. This isn't political or intended to offend, I just thought it a concept that I could make that wasn't already in the discourse. 🙂 “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” – Emma Lazarus The exploitation of desperate disadvantaged people to harvest the “surplus value” of their labour by a class of people who's ancestors had material wealth bestowed to them is gentrified capitalism. In the case of the US, tory…

Stop telling Americans to riot.

I’ve seen an increasing amount of posts from people outside the US saying “man, if I were you guys I’d be rioting” Would you? Let’s rewind a year and a half to the George Floyd protests. The vast majority of which were peaceful. The US government literally sent their military after us. The people that paid for that military. And the cities that didn’t have military sent in? Didn’t matter because the cops were outfitted like the military. I get the sentiment, but asking/telling people to riot is simply not an option. The ultra wealthy have the government in their pocket and the government controls the military. This isn’t an easy problem to solve, hence people living in the US being so damn miserable and tired. We want change, but change is hard to do the right way. Especially when your tax dollars are used against you in the form…

Just curious about how many people have jobs here that are well paid.

Title. I see a lot of posts talking about positions id love to snag. I've been in a bad spot for a long time in life financially since I was born, and I see a lot of posts with people mentioning jobs that pay pretty well. I've definitely worked my ass off for basically every job I've worked, and haven't gotten very far regardless of how well I do. Finding opportunities here is poor too. Just curious about how many of us are well paid, and how many of us are suffering in customer service or Healthcare positions. Edit: I make 16/hr right now, and while I can manage, I do not consider this rate good. Anything over 20 is decent in my opinion.

You’re too valuable than what you think or make you believe.

my previous employer gave me my t4 (a paper you get with total amount you made in a year) and the amount was around 20k cad, he looked at me and said you made lot of money with a smile, at the beginning he offered a full time job and after a while when we don't have anything to do for the rest of the day he comes up to me and say you can go home, used to be the more experienced guy in the company and he always offered the same salary even to the new ppl joining us, I was the one teaching them and stuff. He was always on my neck making me feel unwanted, asking me why I put this paper here, do this first and that and this and telling me if the others don't like it here they can leave. I left that…

Not sure what to do!

So back story first, in 2018 I had a stroke and 2 heart attacks. I also have diabetes and neuropathy. Which is really bad. It has taken me 4 yrs to get some what back to normal. I applied for disability and never got it. I got tired of fighting for it knowing I really need it. I applied for a job and got it. I start Tuesday. Me and my husband currently live with his mom who is in her 70s. She basically takes care of us. My husband does odd jobs to have money. I feel guilty for her having to take care of us. I don't think she wants him to work cause he does so much around here. She has told me she thinks that I may not be able to do this job. And she said that if I can't do it quit. She said…
