So, I’m sitting at work very uncomfortable and anxious right now. I’m trying not to spiral, and I’d really appreciate some feedback on my situation because I can’t tell if I’m trippin or if this is weird. For some context, I started working at this shop because my best friend was going to open it with a former boss of his. He assured me this boss is the best, he wants me to come work with him, etc. I trust him a lot and we both are very open and honest and on the same page about things like workers rights and work-life balance. I also wanna mention I am sober, but my significant other is currently struggling with substance dependency/addiction. I have a prescription I take for a mental health issue I have, but other than that I am clean and have been for quite some time. I’m doing…
All businesses are evil
I work in a school for children with a history of complex trauma in care. The company that manages us has understaffed us for a year continually promising to hire more people and not delivering. The changes the company has made to cut costs and tick boxes for official inspections have made the staff and students suffer. Myself and other teachers have been physically and emotionally abused. Yet, the people in charge, (who only step foot in the school when there are rumours of an inspection) tell us we are not doing enough. This is my second year working ever, and I am shocked at the idea that this is how most businesses operate. The mental health of your employees and treating them like human beings guarantees good outcomes for all. Yet, instead we are driven to our limits to be replaced by less qualified and ultimately cheaper employees. The…
Finally quit my job as an LPN
Since the start of Covid I’ve been working at a 75 bed assisted living facility. The past year I’ve worked both nights and days with my only call ins due to getting Omicron in January. Our new nursing manager calls, texts, and emails almost every single day on our off days. They have also refused to fill in for a single nurse shift which in my experience is weird for DONs. This week was the final straw. After arriving for 6p-6a I was immediately called and asked where I was during my off days and why I hadn’t responded. I was then told to pass night meds then go home and sleep while “being on call” and come back for 6a-6p due to a staffing issue they had known about for six days. Had to compromise by staying late and doing all nurse duties so day shift wouldn’t be completely…
Pre Shift inspections at Best Buy
At the Best Buy warehouse, there’s too much shit to do before the shift starts. You find a suitable power jack (not always easy), you get a “Pre Shift Inspection” form. You inspect the equipment, fill out the form, get a radio from another place, sign it out on a sheet, then get to the place to receive the order that you will pick. All this must be done on your personal unpaid time! How do they get away with this?
She is currently in a management position at a retail store. She is good friends with and has ties to quite a few of the managers of the other locations in her districts. They have all been facing greater workloads and stricter policies as a result of an upper management shift. I have suggested that she should consider the idea of forming a union, however I am ususally brushed off. She had a very negative experience with a union when she was working for a factory that has lead her to believe that unions are not beneficial to workers. That combined with the fear of retaliation has made it somthing of a moot point. Where could I find resources to show her the benefits of unions? Additionally, where could I find information on how to start one?

I’m a good supervisor
I’m a regional manager with 10 shops á 5-6 employees each, and I’m good with everyone. Everyone likes to work with me Why ? Why the FUCK would I be shitty to people whom I expect performance from? If I’m a good listener and try to help everyone with everything, people will like working with me at this workplace. I know every single one of my employees, I know their Hamsters name, their wedding dates and their hobby’s. They trust me and I trust them, and I drove 140 kilometers because a old employee asked me to cover his shift because his bird died, I came and made the shift. What will I achieve with Shiite attitude towards them, screaming or embarrass them? They would not enjoy working anymore and it would show in their performances and our daily income would go down . All I’m saying is good chefs…
