BEWARE: New shitty recruiter tactic

So, without going into too much detail … just to give y'all a heads up. I received a message from a recruiter asking if I would be interested in a job working for Apple — and it was great money. I said yes, and he asked me to send my latest resume. I looked up the recruiter and his company, both are verified, legitimate organizations. I sent my resume. He then sent me a message with the detailed job listing, except the company wasn't Apple, it was another company that owned a subsidiary called something like Apple Marketing. Had I known the actual job listing, I would have turned it down as it is not something I want to do. It was like being asked if you would be interested in doing work-from-home IT support for Apple partners, versus doing desktop troubleshooting for Apple Marketing clients which requires three weeks…

“Don’t take a break. Hit the ground running or you will lose your momentum and marketability”.

This was advice given by my program director regarding what to do once we graduate PA school. We are in a grueling, 27 month program with NO BREAKS and many of us are on antidepressants and hardly making it. One of the students asked what they suggest we plan to do close to graduation, and that's what she said. “I said “jokingly”, “I don't like your advice””. But in my head, I was thinking, we have all been through the meatgrinder and lost all touch with reality, friends and any semblance of a social life. I have been living in a cave at school/studying 80+ hours per week, have to miss out on any important event in my life, and have not had any free time in ages. They beat us down like we are in the military. And instead of telling us to enjoy a little week or two…

Company Values

I don’t mind naming this company as it doesn’t exist anymore. Back in 2012, I worked as a contractor for Vertu. A new CEO came in and gave us a list of his company values. The entitlement with executive level people is breathtaking. I stopped reading at the first entry: “Work like you own the company.”

Fascism is possible not in spite of liberal capitalism, but because of it. If we want to eliminate the threat of fascism, we must eliminate work.

New mom, forced back to work

I just had a baby. I’m in my 40’s. That alone caused me to have a very risky and dangerous pregnancy, but on top of that, I had MASSIVE uterine fibroids (the very reason it took so long for me to get pregnant in the first place) that were crushing everything in my abdominal area. High risk and complicated. It was awful. I had to get a nephrostomy tube (pee bag directly in my kidney) so my kidneys wouldn’t get damaged from my ureter being crushed. I got hemorrhoids which made every poo feel like sharp rocks dipped in lava. I was in such horrible pain that I was out on temporary disability for half of my pregnancy. I could barely move. Because of the fibroids, regular delivery was impossible and since I was going to be opened up for a cesarean section, I told my doctor that I wanted…

Shitty bosses trying to force me to settle a WC case bc they don’t want to pay what I was worth to them.

I don’t want to work for these mother fuckers any more but I can’t afford medical… What do I do? Never dealt with WC So, I’ll preface by saying that I’m at a loss. I’ve never been in this position before and I don’t know what step to take. I’ve been on WC since mid November. At first it seemed like the company was good people. They wanted to help me get better and move back to my position. I herniated a disc in my lower back and it impinged on my sciatic nerve. After several months, they got to be tired of paying me so much for not being able to do my duties and having very limited restrictions. (It’s a very toxic environment) I started making significant progress in PT and low and behold they decided to have me do something outside of my restrictions. Guess what… my…

My story of going union vs working non union

So I'm posting my story on why I went (private trade union / not government funded )union in my field and the difference in work environment it made in hopes to help anyone who's been back and forth about joining one. And I'd love to answer questions. So when I was 19 idecided to get my shit together after basicly being homeless and on drug I got a job at taco bell, got my license and a car for 700 bucks filed financial aid went to welding school, started at what supposed to be my first welding job for a semi truck repair buisness in the middle of school. Start there they wouldn't give me a weld test or anything, instead they give me the most labor intensive and hard to do tickets of putting on rub rails they give us a 5 dollar little safety medallion we're supposed to…
