Like i want to have a list of lawyers from all over the country who I pay to work on cases that they normally wouldn't take because “capitalsim” cases like the billions of companies who tell employees that they can't discuss wages. It would kinda be like a pro Bono firm except they are all paid well and are good at thier jobs. Part of the reason nothing is changing within the legal system in the favor of the poor masses, is because they don't have the money to fight corruption. We all dream what we would do if we won the lottery. I'd start this lawfirm. Start a non-profit to support poor people with mental health/addiction issues. And then use the rest to help people from generational poverty start thier own businesses. But I also wonder how the illuminate would convince me to fall in line, like I'm sure…
Minimum wage in germany
By Oktober 2022, Germany will increase the minimum wage from 9,6€ to 12€ per hour. The minister of work explains this measure as follows: a) it rewards those who kept the economy afloat b) it speeds up economic recovery A nice step in the right direction imo. I was somehow not aware of how absurdly much my boss was asking of me for little compensation until a few years ago, and it got more pronounced and obvious during covid. I've been at my job for the majority of my working life, since I was 22, in 2008. I was hired for 12.50/hour (in a major city) and I currently make 16.50/hour (last raise was 2 or 3 years ago). I have no benefits and only 5 vacation days and 2 sick days a year. Minimum wage here is 15/hour. The job is for an increasingly small company. When I started, there were 30+ employees, I was one of 2 or 3 for the past 7 years, and then I've been the only employee (most of the time) since 2020. I keep many parts of the business running entirely by myself and have a number of areas of…
So I’ve been with a company for 5 years and have only received ONE raise within that time frame. With inflation happening and living in an expensive city, I asked if I would be getting one. I am in good standing with the company, have never been written up ect. I was told that giving the employees raises is “not a good business model” and that “overpaying” the employees would sink the company. I make $20.00 dollars an hour….in LA.
for the last few months our organization has been talking about doing an “equity wage adjustment” which would include a liveable wage. the adjustment is supposed to come through on our paycheck this month. However, I was told by coworkers that the upper management are still having meetings about the new wage. Including a meeting that happened at one of our establishments. My coworkers were talked down to when asked about the wage adjustment by someone from human resources. They were told that the organization can't keep up with the cost of living and that people get to choose where they live. What the fuck is the point then? I love my job and it's so disappointing to see from somewhere that I thought would be different. I guess I'm just very naive.
Dying before retirement
I don't know why. But my mom's coworker dying in his mid 50s just was one of the last straws before I quit my office job. It made something click. You can work your whole life and “delay gratification” and wait for the golden retirement/vacation… only for you to die before it. This happened over 4 years ago but I still think of it often. That someone can die in the middle of a workweek and all they had was the weekend. There is no such thing as stability either.
Massive Layoff Tomorrow
Don't even get me started on the Chinese buying houses they never live in. You love the Chinese and won't even admit they put people in concentration camps tho.
