There is bureaucracy, overworking(and not even the productive kind just working to work and justify a paycheck), low pay, demeaning leadership, the list goes on. If you don’t like your current work conditions for these reasons, you will probably be even less happy if you join up. Stop considering it as an alternative. Edit: typo
I’ve been working at my current job for about 8 months but 2 weeks ago my mother got into a car accident that landed her in the ICU. I immediately took off work and filed for Family Leave of Absence in order to help her and my family to take care of her. Today, I received a letter stating that my request was denied because I hadn’t yet worked a year with the company so the time I had missed work was considered unapproved and may result in corrective action. This is a multi billion dollar company who I would have hoped would have a better policy regarding family emergencies. EDIT: This was my best plan of action after my manager told me I couldn’t use sick time (our employee guide says under family illness or injury we can qualify) or find coverage for the 4-6 shifts that I would…
I have some nerve?!?
I work as a research assistant in a university lab. I come I once a week to do analysis on stuff no one else has time to do. I’m a student and doing this for research experience. There was a report I had to write up and I got up early today on the weekend to do it and sent it to my boss in an email attachment so he could see it at his own time. He replied by telling me his weekends are reserved for his family and that I have some nerve contacting him on the weekend. Promptly quit. Fuck that, my time is valuable too. What about the time I could have spent with my family?!

Would love some input
Go back and read the post from yesterday for part 1. I forgot a lot of what happened and forgot I talked to some co-workers about buying lube for this guy (im male if it matters) I like kinda as a joke but also not (i'm openly gay). Turns out customers heard it and said something, as well as the people I talked to. Strange because I have talked about much worse shit with a few of those guys. One of them is an emt student and another day was talking about a “gruesome” scene of someone who coded in the ambulance. I found it interesting because of my medical experience and nobody said anything then. That was months back. This happened a month ago exactly because I remember saying I bought the lube on break to the same guy, the emt student. They said it was no less than…
