An outlook from someone who is mentally cut throat in corporate America.

I’m a sociopath, I was diagnosed with ASPD., and also a business owner, granted I treat my employees good from what they say, but I run my company from a productive mindset, not a financial mindset, but ether way I am an extremely apathetic self centered person. People with ASPD are much more likely to be CEO’s lawyers, and so on. Prison too, but still. So here is a prospective, if I was your self centered asshole boss. First off, you can quit all day long, the worst case scenario, they would have to use a staffing company like pride staff, or other ones. We have a population of 300+ million, and since Reagan gutted unions, and implemented right to work laws and employment at will, bosses treat their employees how they view their employees….which is expendable. Even with the birth rate down, which is every developed nation, 300+ million…

Help me out… this doesn’t add up.

I took a 9 convective day vacation to enjoy my wedding. 7 business days, I requested PTO at least 4 months in advance. Nearly two months after my wedding. I met with my manager. He wrote me up for “not submitting my timesheet” that week I was getting married out of state. Correct me if I'm wrong, I requested an entire week off, grounds for not submitting my timesheet. Seeing I'm in an entirely different state? Not on the clock? And a filled out and he signed a formal paper saying I wouldn't be there? Not to mention this happened over a month ago, at that point…? I'm pretty sure they were just trying to write people up to fire them. Because ironically my coworker was also written up because of his “attitude” towards another co-worker. What's funny, they wrote up the other coworker who made that complaint as well.…

Not super juicy, but it’s a real bummer that they only want to hire “an individual” for 48hrs of work per week. Guess that’s a job I’m not applying to.

“Future employers can see what you post on the internet even if you hide it”

I always laughed at this growing up when my family and teachers always spouted that crap. Sorry but if I set something to where only my friends can see it, only my friends can see it.. “future employers” don’t have some magic account that sees everything on your page or account regardless of your privacy settings cause that’s illegal Wtf? Who started this stupid myth? These companies don’t care about us enough to provide decent health insurance or a living wage, we’re just bodies to them, our personal lives don’t matter to them. Sure there are some companies that will try to look at your shit but if you have half a brain you set your shit to private and post whatever you want just never understood who was stupid enough to spread this myth.

Difficult working situation for workers

Constantly being asked to come in on my days off and its making me want to work somewhere else.

For context I work at a hospital overnight, and I'm PRN, which means what I'm not full time and make my own schedule. To keep my job I only have to work 8 days in 8 weeks. I make my schedule a month at a time, always working thurs-sun. I've called out twice in the year I've worked there and I consider myself a good employee. Recently we have gotten a new supervisor and she literally text me almost every off day asking me to come in. If I reply and say I can't (I've just stopped replying) shell ask me to work half of a shift (they are 12 hours) etc.Sometimes offering double pay. I feel so guilty for turning it down but god its so draining. They know I am a full time student, and working 48 hours a week as it is, is alot for me to…

Downfall: The Case Against Boeing is a microcosm of what’s wrong with 21st century Western capitalism

I've just finished watching Downfall and I couldn't help but be struck by how it could be the parable of the post 1979 “greed is good” neo-Liberal capitalist system. The first and most obvious lesson from it is that modern capitalists will happily kill you to make a profit, and they'll charge you for the privilege. I'd like to think most of us here know this, at least on some level. But Boeing's consistent decisions to push forward on getting a plane into the air that they knew was dangerous, and their consistent efforts to avoid being forced into any mitigation of that risk (even after 2 of them had crashed, and the FAA had produced a report predicting 15 further crashes I've the lifetime of the aircraft without this issue being addressed) if there was any chance it would impact their bottom line is a particularly in your face…
