Help, Employer didn’t pay me agreed upon salary

I worked for one week for a shady company and quit. They didn’t send me a pay stub or a w-2. They just sent a check for 390 dollars after working 39 hours at 15 dollars an hour. During tax season many months later, I asked for a w-2 and they said they didn’t put me on payroll because it would cost them 200 dollars and I was new. My accountant said they took out too much taxes. 390 dollars is too little for 15 an hour in PA. So they were paying me under the table, letting me think they were taking out taxes but really just keeping that money for themselves. I did sign some papers while working there but didn’t read anything. I have to see if I can find them but I don’t know if I still have them. All I have is an email saying…

The left & labor leadership need to drop their reliance on empty “woke” sloganeering & passive partnerships with the bosses & corporate politicians. Only a militant, class-struggle approach can win the confidence & support of the multi-racial, multi-gender working class!

My boss knows im applying for another job. Because the other job told him!!

Hi everyone. I work in kitchens and ive been doing this for 10+ years. My job is hard but wage is alright and timetables fit around my family which is my priority. Headchef is a total dick, barely comes to work and when he does he just checks his phone on the office for 10 mins and leaves. Meanwhile I do breakfast service on my own (around 150 covers in 2 hours) plus prep for the next day and prepare buffet lunches and morning bar tickets six days a week. Recently I saw a position available with the better hours and money so I applied for it. Got called to confirm an interview and… Next day my head chef sits me down in his office and shows me an email from the other place warning my chef about me looking for other positions.Apparently both head chefs are buddies. It really…

After two years being promised a raise and it never appearing-

After years of managing the office’s response to COVID. After being handed more work without anything being taken off my plate. After managing multi-million dollar projects. After coming home crying from being belittled about how to do that extra work “correctly”. After being handed the receptionists job duties because they are incapable of doing their job. I quit. Working for the government (in the US) you know you’re likely to go under paid and over worked, but when there’s a difference of $10 between what I’m making for full time work and what the liveable wage is in my state and you’re making me do 2 peoples jobs- I’m done. Shout out to my partner who saw me come home crying one to many times and said “That’s it- you’re done.” They a real one.

Sent my resignation letter..

I’m a mature equipment operator that struggled in school. A Gen Xer with dyslexia, and ADD. I found that habitat restoration and wildland firefighting are passions of mine long ago, and give me intense focus while working, and training was easy. My passion and purpose moved me forward in my career, but over the years my low salary was crushing me. I began looking for work elsewhere, and was surprised at the offers. Life changing. I accepted the one I thought would be the best fit, and turned in my resignation. Within minutes I received a call asking what it would take to keep me on. I have to say, reading the stories on here, made me question myself and what I feel is right and wrong. I was beginning to get institutionalized. We are all valuable. We are what make up healthy communities. We are the the workers! Be…

Workers perpetuating anti worker culture

Something I’ve noticed on other subreddits relating to jobs and career guidance is that many people accept and perpetuate toxic anti worker practices and culture in their “helpful” replies to posts bringing up something that is problematic, “Get used to it,” etc. I thought those subs would be more helpful and empowering but it’s only confirmed that this is a really systemic issue that people have internalized. People protect and enforce the system that oppresses them. I think the system is perpetuated ultimately by the singular, the ego, and is a trauma response and can manifest as personality disordered management and coworking styles.

Been having some…unexpected behavior from my manager lately.

So a little back story: started working at my current job in Nov (one of the 3 largest Pizza chains in the US). There was a guy named Mike managing the store, he left in Dec, and since then a new manager named James has come in. Apparently James ran the store a couple years ago before Mike came in, so they game it back to him once Mike left. Anyw, my coworkers who remember James have been telling me all about how bad of a temper he has, and how he's always yelling at employees. I secretly hoped he would do this to me, as idgaf and will give it right back to him. Well last week he finally did. I had been working a nine hour shift, and when it was time to go, they demanded I stay and help out since we were busy. I refused, and…
