In our “healthier” earlier economy it was still hard to buy real estate. If the housing market crashes cause offices get turned into apartments and causes a flood in the market i dont care. Maybe if the market bursts it only effects the 2%. I feel we have the ability to manipulate the housing markets now. We have a game plan. Make offices obsolete so the estate managers have to force themselves to sell it to be used for housing. All these companies own too much land

I see to many people here that are making minimum wage and dealing with shitty managers and customers. Stand up to your boss and the shitty customers. The worst they could do is fire you and you have to cross the street to find another min wage job. You have managers for a reason. If you are a cashier and a Karen starts demanding you accept her 5 year old coupon, just grab the manager and let them deal with her. Don’t over explain things to pissed off customers. “I’m sorry that’s policy, if you would like, you can step a side and a manager will be with you shortly”. You don’t get paid enough to deal with BS. Don’t take on any extra responsibility. If your dog dies your employer will tell you to get over it and be at the office tomorrow at 9am. So when your employer…

In reality most employers can fire you for no reason at al no matter how dependable you think you are.

I know it's probably just conditioning combined with my general anxiety but does anyone else feel this way? I needed a mental health day but I feel like I'd need one just to ask tomorrow off and thus, the vicious cycle begins.

I have a sneaking suspicion that for those of us who work corporate/white collar jobs we are going to look back at the last two years as the fondest of our careers. Before the dick bags running the shit corporations we work for force us back into an office bc its “where incidental conversations thrive”.

So for some background, the place I work at is a factory that produces medical equipment like stints and catheters. There's been a lot of past attempts to unionize, the last big one back in 2008, but we still don't have one because HR is particularly good at appeasement. Anyway, earlier today we had an employee meeting to air grievences (part of that whole “appeasement” thing), and during it I nervously brought up that “other companies have proposed an 8% raise in accordance with our states' inflation rate”. The HR rep said they weren't discussing it as far as they knew, and I backed off the point. HOWEVER, after a few more comments from others, I asked if a lot of work-from-home people in HR are being made to come back to the office, though I prefaced it by mentioning how that would affect parking for us.
