WaPo-ABC poll “finds deeply pessimistic nation, worried about the economy…” Oh gee, really? I wonder who has time to take these polls? Could it be the same generation that enabled the current economic developments? You know, the ones that endangered their own pensions by embracing unbridled greed… Also, why do they ask people on the street about the economy? I’ve interacted with people, most are not capable of describing how to tie shoelaces. I can’t name all the factors that go into a functioning economy, but I know it’s more than gas and fast food prices. Lastly, doesn’t this make sense? The world is on fire and collapsing. Why do people treat [any given] POTUS like he’s their dad? Source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/02/27/biden-post-abc-poll/
This is a rather long post, so I apologize in advance. To start, I was a Design Team Manager for an unlimited graphic design service based in the US. My colleagues and I all worked for the company remotely; a huge chunk of us were located in the Philippines, while some were from India and its neighboring countries. Most of the graphic designers working for the company are outsourced from here in the Philippines, similar to a lot of unlimited graphic design services (like Design Pickle, for instance). Just to give a little background on how all this stuff went down: Though I started out pretty well with this company and moved up pretty quickly up its ranks, I oftentimes voiced my concerns on how the graphic designers were being treated and compensated. Being a graphic designer myself, I do know how arduous design work can be so I try…
Terrible smelling coworker
I currently work in an office setting, sharing the office with 2 others. It's a decent sized office, but no windows. One of my coworkers smells terrible he's got some medical condition where he sweats profusely to the point the armrests on his chair are stained white with salt. He constantly looks damp, wiping himself throughout the day. The smell is unbearable . I purchased a desk fan. Brought in my diffuser. Trying anything I can think of to make work bearable. Worst part is I'm newly pregnant, and I get nauseated from the smells. What would you suggest?
idk if this fits here but yeah
so my mother is a very strong woman and she takes NO SHIT. i mean like ZERO. and she quit her job to stay home with me and my sisters and her boss was a huge asshole at some point. she worked at an OBGYN. she now is self employed and cleans houses. she goes to houses and clean what its worth and wont clean if the person treats her like a slave. she originally didn't want to work at all bc fuck a 9-5 job, but my dad moved out so this was last minute. so yeah i just wanted to share how proud i am of taking a stand and knowing what shes worth and she even makes her own hours and how much money she gets 🙂

I want to start by saying I support Ukraine. I'm glad they can still communicate despite Russian attempts to shut down their internet access to control the narrative. This is in large part thanks to SpaceX and Starlink. However, I would feel very differently about the situation if Starlink supplied access like that to Russia instead. As a company, their interest lies in doing what's best for their business. In this case world opinion has been pretty clear on what the right side of this conflict is. But in cases where the line between what's right and wrong is blurry, a private company with such power over communication gets to choose what's best for it's wallet rather than what's best for the world. I long for a world where the interests of the majority of the population are heard and those interests are informed by logical and scientific education. It's…
TLDR 17 year old son has not worked before and dropped out of high school to be a “pro gamer”. Now works at his dad's multi million dollar company telling people with degrees they aren't working hard enough I have been at this company in mssachsetts for coming on five years with extensive background in leadership and management including a four year degree. My boss who is a high school drop out makes it very aware that he doesn't respect people with higher education because of his “look where I am without it” persona. He was given this company by his father. I work in “agriculture” or so they call it, so we arent eligible for overtime. My warehouse position has me here about 45 hours a week without over time eligibility. Boss is never here. I mean never, and when he is, it's because the state is coming for…
I hate everything about hiring processes
I just wanted to vent, I figured this was the best place for that… I applied for a government position in mid-December after getting hired somewhere else, but was fired after three days, as I failed a drug test (I’m in a legal state, different story, still angry about that). So I applied and did all of the background checks and testing. It was $19.50 an hour, plus a $1000 signing bonus. I’m 25 years old with very little job experience, so this would have been huge. So I got strung along for three months. I finally did the health exam. I failed the vision portion (because they forced me to wear a mask, which kept fogging up the display). I also failed as they had no documentation that my anxiety and depression are treated. So I start the appeal process, send in documentation that my vision is fine. I’m…
So a little background. I work in the insurance industry. I work for a semi large company that you’ve probably never heard of, unless you live in my state. My current job is surprisingly cool and flexible. Bosses let me do my job and mostly stay out of my. However there’s no upward mobility. So I started looking for other jobs. I had an interview a few weeks ago and was not offered the job because I haven’t used a specific piece software in 8 yrs. It’s an easy platform to use and most insurance companies use it. So they called me back last week and asked me to apply for a different position, that would be a promotion. I spoke to the recruiter and his pitch is essentially, this is high stress, high volume and you’ll be working all the time. I didn’t get the rest of the pitch.…
Obligatory not legal advice or any kind of professional advice. I came to this conclusion after having lived in apartments for the last five years, all of which were owned by corporations. (Why the fuck can corporations own homes)? They don't give a shit about your privacy Make sure that you change the locks as soon as you get in. Read up on the local laws and get educated about your rights as a tenant. You may not own the apartment but, as a tenant, you have custodianship. Document everything wrong with the apartment. They ALWAYS try to pin every little issue on the tenant. They will do everything in their power to keep your deposit. Don't let it happen. Asserting your rights means that you've gone to war with the landlord. They will absolutely fuck you over if you assert your rights as a tenant. In many areas, you…
