It's happening folks, I am out of my demanding job as soon as my bonus hits. Less than 1 month from now I will be free. I am scared but relieved. I love the people I work with and hate to leave them but I am absolutely done. I would like to resign but also work as a consultant to tie up any loose ends or train my replacement. Does anyone have a good resignation letter template that specifically states retaining me as a consultant and a fee structure? I was absolutely screwed with my salary and I've stayed too long so if they want to keep me temporarily they gonna have to pay.
Under new EU law698934) employers will be required to include a salary range in all job posts with the aim of preventing salary discrimination. President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said: “Equal work deserves equal pay. And for equal pay, you need transparency.”
school scheduling
i just got hired at a new job and i specifically told them in the interview i cannot work monday tuesday or thursday due to me having college classes. they said it was fine so i ended up starting. now whenever someone is sick and releases their shift i get asked to come in on these days that i specifically said i cannot work? i mean i get they’re short staffed but i feel bad for having to say no and then i feel like they’re mad at me. for example i only had one 6 hour shift last week on sunday but i couldn’t pick up an extra on thursday due to me having school that day and then next thing i know my 6 hour shift on sunday was removed? are they trying to fire me without trying to fire me? i don’t even understand like why say…
App that tracks everything I do.
I just started this new job, is from home. They made us install an app that tracks everything we do, takes three screenshots (per monitor) every 10 minutes, and also records the apps that you use and the web history as well. It tracks everything as long as you are logged in. What do you think about that? It’s my own computer, so I don’t know how to feel about that.
So I'm doing an unpaid internship for school and its been a logistical nightmare: We started in January and we were told that we'd be spending a saturday every few weeks down at a site a few hours away and doing lab work on campus. Thursday night we finally get our schedules and I'm scheduled to leave friday afternoon, spend the night on site, and spend all day saturday working. I was feeling sick and my mental health was bad due to a horrible week. (I'm facing eviction for BS reasons and harassment from my LLs) So I let my boss know that I wouldn't be going to the site this weekend but would gladly go a different weekend and work extra hours to make up for any time lost. He never responded but I could tell it pissed him off. Yesterday was my first day doing lab work on…
Antiwork shower thought
I just had a thought. When companies spend money on break rooms, cafeteria, food for the office or “other incentives other than pay increase,” what they are really doing is gambling that those expenses will be less than actually giving you a pay increase. Bonus: You spend more time at work decreasing your own pay rate and maximizing the potential of a fixed cost.
I am having a very, very bad day. I generally believe I have thick skin but today's events really got to me. I recently began some part-time work at a fast-food place, and was given little training, but I got stuck into it and thought I was going at a decent pace, I was making a few mistakes here and there, but again, I thought it was going well. Later, i'm pulled aside and told that I need to hurry up and get it right, that no more mistakes would be tolerated. Well, if the company had given me enough training to begin with, and didn't have to learn by myself, it'd be a lot easier! I was a bit agitated, but shrugged it off – as I went to leave, I catch him complaining and laughing about me to the entire workplace – and then talking about how he…
Getting fired without getting fired
Company I work for told us (8 employees) yesterday that we will be switched from salary to hourly next month (one week) with no plan to schedule anyone for hourly work. To be clear, they have no work for us and no plans on generating work. I've worked there for 5 years. I wish they would at least lay me off so I could get unemployment. The reasoning was to keep us as employees so we could still have health insurance, but I would rather have money to pay rent and put food on the table.
