I’m a new employee, when i was hired there was no talk about dress code or CAMERAS in the office. I got a phone call from my boss today saying that they watched the camera in our office (that i was never made aware of) and asked me why i wore sneakers and a sweatshirt over my dress shirt. I explained to her that no one made me aware that i couldn’t wear sneakers and i was cold so i kept my zip up on. They proceeded to tell me that i need to go and purchase new clothing and new shoes in order to continue my employment. I have no problem with the clothing policy. I do however have a problem with you calling me on my day off to tell me about my clothing and that y’all watched my every move and listened to everything i did all…
I feel guilty and shell shocked. It’s oddly creating a new form of anxiety. Anyone else going through something similar?
Around the holidays, my boss schedules a mandatory “party” for all the staff members. This past holiday party, however, was one for the book of absolute shame. Now, this wasn’t your average party, oh no. It was study group time by splitting off into “teams”, going over new but subtle changes. That was just the beginning, it only gets worse from here. After going over changes, we saw that “activity stations” were set up for our groups to do. Great, we get paid shit for the costumers we have to call and deal with everyday. We can barely feed ourselves while also putting a roof over our heads and our party activities consist of paper plate painting, a knowledge quiz, and leftover pizza from the break room. What baffles me the most was the quiz considering everyone has a different job and all questions on the quiz were the same…
I worked for a tool company as a stock person for nearly 2 years, crappy pay, crappy hours, waking up at 2am and getting off usually 4-5hrs after my shift ended with no overtime. I was only keeping this job since I was in a town that was cheap to live in and was just being stupid. After 2years I decided to not quit but move since my job offered transfers and I wanted to be closer to my family. I told my boss and he okd it and contacted the management at my “new” job. I move over 2hours away and then after a week. The day before I was supposed to start I get a call telling me he canceled the transfer and now I'm going to have to commute 2 hours over a snowy mountain pass in a old Carolla, I said fuck that and quit immediately.…
We should be retired already.
I did the math. Adjusting for inflation, if I made my parents money and kept my same expenses I would have saved about 40k a year average from 16-29. If I was paying a mortgage instead of rent I’d have probably about 150,000 in equity in a home that conservatively would have at least doubled in value since I bought it. If I put every dollar I would have made on their pay scale but did t into the markets and lived exactly the same life otherwise, I can’t think of a way I wouldn’t already be a millionaire. Most of us would be. This is how bad they screwed us.
Here’s what we gotta do
A series of industry specific boycotts of employers. You work in a coffee shop? 15th if may no one shows up to work. Your boss calls you say. $20 bucks an hour. You work in an industry that's hiring and pays better than starbucks? You poach those muthafuckin batista all through April. You make it so no one gets coffee anywhere for a day. You think they'll just fire everyone? They need you more than you need them! Security guards? Pick a day Delivery drivers? Pick a day. Bankers? Customer service? Do you have any idea what a single day of lost revenue will cost them? You think they can fire everyone? Rise up brothers and sisters, it's fucking time. You know what the daily revenue for your job is? Make them see how much your worth. Pick a job, pick a day, form a union, or eat the rich.…
