Hired to a start up company! Love it but also have an interview with another well know, work to the bone company that pays double. I will interview but don’t know if I should take it or not! Does the start up have potential or do I struggle with the real world? If I am hired, can I tell my current company and ask for better pay?

TL;DR Why does it make me weird that I try to do the right thing rather than worrying about my legacy… I was in a leadership training at work and was asked a question about how my work is furthering my legacy. But, the problem is I don’t think about my legacy and that was apparently the wrong answer. Other people however, had very specific thoughts about their future, and about the kind of legacy they wanted to leave. Over my life I’m realized I’m usually very different than normal people in that way. I was the kid who never had a hero in the elementary school classroom. I was a college student who didn’t have any specific activist ideals. And now I’m the colleague who doesn’t think about their legacy. Nobody has ever been interested in my answers to these kind of questions, because it isn’t satisfying to them…

37, been working since I was 11 (80's baby, started working pre 2000). Job 1 1995 to 1999, newspaper sales boy. Walked around the CBD selling the local newspaper, 7 cents commission per sale, plus tips. Added a couple of delivery runs over the years until I hit 15 and we relocated. Job 2 2001 to 2002, was identified as being at risk of long term unemployment and hired on a contract as a part of the team redeveloping the local Council website, as well as assisting in developing an interactive digital image library. Continued studying, actually returned to year ten in 2002. Relocated mid year, enrolled at a new school, relocated before years end. Relocation saw me trying to finish year ten, but the new school's enrollment department was all “too late for this year, you can start next year, but in year eleven due to your age”… left…

I went to school and took time off so I have been in the running for a Secondary Education degree coming this fall. However, despite not being eligible for the stimulus checks, I was an essential minimum wage employee who got exploited for overtime work like everyone else. Though my panic led me to save enough to feel good, items I once paid a dollar for became $3 and my savings started to make less hope for me with the rise of inflation. Due to being worked to not only try to afford life, but to keep a job because I was not seeing that unemployment benefit and was not willing to take it from someone who might need it more if I still had a job. However, now I am about to start teaching, fully aware I can not afford to get out of my abusive household and contemplating…
