Sometime in 2020 I worked at a Togos (basically Subway but exclusive to the West Coast, mainly California) Now this place sucked. I was being paid minimum wage at an understaffed, falling apart Togos. The GM is this old neurotic lady whose been extremely exploited by the owner, who was the biggest POS. Would name drop him but I think doxxing is against the rules or something. The AM was this angsty, pseudointellectual stoner whose first thing he said to me was “This job ruins relationships” in a pissed off tone. He didn't like me for a while and this story is mostly about him. I have work boundaries, one is no physical contact, I have been groped at work before. Nowadays I also don't do threats, at all. Even vaguely threatening things get called out. Another is that you don't fuck with my hours. I don't work more than…
Your boss talks shit to you? Walk out. You’re fine for a few months and people typically find a job within that given time. You’ll be less stressed out at work due to the pressure of paying bills being off your shoulders. If we all collectively done this, our employers would shit themselves at the easy power we have to just walk out and not put up with their shit.
I’m 4 months into my new job and I work in HR. My coworkers, including my managers are lazy. I feel bad for the employees coming to the office having inquiries about their salary or vacations etc. Its not my job but the people responsible tells them to wait for one to two hours just to answer very simple inquiries, while the whole department goes to eat breakfast, have “meetings”, play video games (my boss has a PS5 in his office), have three hour lunches, etc. I feel bad for the employees here having HR department treat them this bad. I used to help out answer queries and telling them basic things like how to use the system, etc. but my coworkers told me (in a friendly way) to just stick to my job, which is not related to HR operations. I don’t deal with the employees at all. I…
Anti-Work Community opinion on Fox News?
I'm aware that this isn't totally relevant to the anti-work movement, which is more often finance related. I hope there can be some level of similarities without the obvious “well, Yeah, Duh,” response. Fox News has produced controversial and often heated political talking points for over a decade, and so recently I've noticed it become more extreme in this satire as an uninformed comedy skit or using 'scary rhetoric' more and more, compared to news of real journalism. I'm curious what you all would think about Fox News. There's so much finger pointing without real ample evidence as to why. That's why I feel Fox as a money machine more than an informational source. This post is mainly to give me some perspective by what I'm actually watching in America today. It helps to share some relevant ideas and not be dumbfounded. 1) Why do viewers still watch (and believe)…
I have had my minimum wage job for well over a year now and suffice it to say, it has not been a good experience. My manager is your typical power-tripping boss and has even written me up for allegedly avoiding customers simply because she does not want to do any of the customer facing jobs herself. She also does not allow the use of gloves when we clean the store (in spite of health and safety regulations in my state saying that gloves are mandatory), unless you have a dermatological condition, in the height of the pandemic claiming that gloves are only for the kitchen hands and that the front of house junior staff who also serve as cleaners (which, considering this is a somewhat busy arcade in a busy mall, is incredibly unrealistic) with her and the shift supervisors (who get the cushy kitchen hand and office backroom…
I’ve had enough
I’ve posted here before about my shitty company and my shitty job. Needless to say I still work for them because even though every where says they are hiring no one actually is. I’ve put in at least 7 job applications in the past week and the only people that are contacting me is indeed about more jobs I match. Anyway, I’ve had maybe 5 days off since October. Last June I was asked to run a second store with promises of it helping me get the promotion I wanted. About a month ago that promotion went to another woman. Back in December I told my then boss that I couldn’t/ wouldn’t do two stores anymore and here we are at the end of February with no relief in sight. Today is a high stress day for one of my stores. Today is audit day, the day my boss and…
why is it legal to pay by age?
i work at a popular coffee chain, i’m 16. i don’t understand how someone doing the EXACT same job as me who is 2 years older who started on the same day as me gets paid $15/h when i get paid $13/h i think it’s totally unfair and so strange.. like minimum wage is 15$… why is it different because i’m 2 years younger.. it’s actually baffling and makes me hate my job even more. makes me so jealous and envious that someone with the exact same skill set as me is making more money! this is the exact issue that got me into this subreddit.
