I feel like every era of the labor movement has had their own classic movement songs and I would love if we could start sharing some potential classics for this era. Personally I just found this excellent song by Hannah Jaye and the Hidewaways called ‘Mr. Monetizer’ about how the singer wants to be truly free from their supervisor and The Schedule, it just feels deeply anti-work. I really want to find more music like this!

Is this Legal?
I work for an apartment complex (part time) that gets primarily students as their residents but is open to anyone. This building is in New York. I live on premise and every other week I have to be on call to answer our emergency phone call 24/7 or anytime the office is not open. These calls are usually for lock outs and noise complaints. I get paid minimum wage for 3 hours each night only and I must stay on premises while on call. I do not get paid past the 3 hours nightly and I must pay rent. Is this legal? Am I supposed to be paid for the hours the office is not open (which is 14ish hours a day) or just get paid the 3 hours nightly. I tried looking it up but I cannot find my type of situation and not sure what regulations apply.…

[Salutation], Thank you for your time and feedback during our annual performance review. Because changes to annual compensation are traditionally discussed at a time after the review, I wanted to proactively bring to the management team's attention some differences in the market for [your position / title] that might inadvertently be overlooked. As you are likely aware of due to your own compensation discussions with your management team, any year-over-year compensation change that does not match inflation is an effective pay cut.…
