I've picked up on a few things at my workplace which I felt quite off about and but couldn't put my finger on. Having recently talked to a few colleagues, they all things that sound quite similar to each other and having recently found out a manager has previously been fired for sexual harassment and his management style is quite unethical and manipulative. but just fyi, he hasn't done anything to me particularly I just feel quite uncomfortable around him because of the vibe that he gives off, sort of reminds me of a psychopath basically..but of course I keep it professional with him. This particular manager has been known to eavesdrop on people and they've been called into the “interrogation” office where he would speak with them. He has previously fired people in a coverted way by for example, one time there was a lady who was reading/using her…
Work 401k’s
I(25M) have been job hopping ever since high school. Usually not staying with an employer for more than a year. I have had a few employers start 401k's for me once my 90 day trial period was over. I was never asked if I wanted one started or how much I wanted to put in each check. Once I noticed a drop in my paychecks, I would ask my bosses if I could cancel it and not put anymore in. They would just shrug me off by saying, they didn't know what to do, or corporate handles that. Once I'd leave my job, I would get a letter saying my 401k has been withdrawn and taxed and the remainder is sent by check. I never ask for a 401k or ask for it to be withdrawn. Do all companies do this? Do the companies have the authority to create, close,…
Hey everyone, I worked for a Fortune 100 company (Home Depot) as a salaried employee before I resigned in January 2022. At the time of my resignation, I had all of my vacation time available (80 hours) as I had just reached my work anniversary in November 2021. I reached out to HR as I had not been reimbursed for this vacation time in a few pay cycles. They were able to clear that up, but when I received my paycheck this week, it only shows I was reimbursed for 13.33 hours. I called back HR and asked why I wasn't paid out for the 80 hours that I did have. They told me that while I had availability of the 80 hours to use at my disposal, I actually accrue those hours each month. So, since my hours renewed in November but I only worked December and January before…
Antiwork relief fund??
Dear people of Ukraine, Hey, I'm just your average American following the stereotype of getting involved where I probably don't need to. I'm both horrified thinking about all of you possibly getting injured or killed from being bombed and furious knowing that some of you have to work through this knowing your home and/or workplace could be destroyed at any second. You should NOT work during an emergency like this!! You should be finding a safe shelter to bunker down in. What can we do? Besides bringing in more guns and making things bigger and worse like our government always does… Is there an organization you trust to distribute resources to all of you during an emergency like this? Or do we need to set up some kind of GoFundMe?? There's over 1 million of us, if we all chip in, we could raise $1 million dollars at LEAST. I…
NoBoDy WaNtS tO wOrK aNyMoRe
My female counterpart (1 year) makes significantly less than me, and my shift lead (2.5+ years) makes only .20 more than me (3 months). I told them both my pay, waited for them to stop being upset, and told them to use my name specifically when they demand their raises with our GM. If they leave because they won’t give raises I’ll be doing 3 peoples’ jobs and leaving myself without a proper raise. Pay your employees properly if you don’t want the labor shortage to affect you.
Fuck working in healthcare
I'm obviously unionized, my contract calculates my hours based on a 4 week schedule. I'm not allowed to work over full time hours in the 4 weeks, I don't get overtime. The kicker, in a small department I a part time employee, have to cover a second round of coworker out with covid. I am literally the only one, who can. Other pt on vacation. This week I will end up with 44hrs (37.5 is full time) with no overtime pay. Next week I will work somewhere beware 56 and 63.5, while my husband is away and my parents are in Florida. I work 12 hr shifts with the occasional 8. All are days. I have adhd, have a daughter struggling with mental health, she's 12. How is this right, or ok??? I'm so angry and frustrated. She'll be home every day alone. No one cares, just go do it,…

Work messes up tax withholding
I work for a large employer with offices around the country. In my state, we are subject to local (city) income taxes. My employer erroneously changed my location in their system to a state that does not require local income tax payments. This happened mid way through last year. So needless to say, because they weren’t withholding, I owe a substantial amount to my city for taxes. Do I have any recourse for their mistake?
Just came out of my performance review and I have to vent my frustration. Nothing to say about my performance, it has been “absolutely stellar”. My title gets “promoted” to better reflect my responsibilities, which I am fine with. Btw, it's a small company and the CEO has all the powers. Then comes the discussion about salary. I had already been prospecting outside to know what I am worth, essentially around 120k. I am paid 80k currently. My manager is very open with me and agrees, he sends an email to the CEO in front of me. The CEO answers back in a few minutes and my manager looks very offended. He shows me the email and it says “saayaminator should ABSOLUTELY NOT get a higher salary than employee B.”. Employee B was an intern just a month ago, I figured he was paid a lot less than me. But…
