About to demand my pay double
So I oversee the catering for a store that is expanding. With their business model I am the only one that will be looking after two stores in this region. Guess what that means…. Pay me double or exploit someone else. I have a meeting scheduled for next week to discuss this with the “bosses”. I will check back in after my meeting and let y'all know, but let's be real, they won't bite. They have 25 nationwide brick and mortar stores with an expansion plan to open up 20+ more in the next two years yet they pay their people an average of $11/hr in a city where that is absolute poverty level shit. Solidarity with REI workers
The workers at REI in SOHO New York are unionizing and facing a union busting campaign by the owners and management. A petition has been started to let REI know that's is disrespect for it's workers organization is seen by the people of our country and is noted as representative of their workplace practices. I hope some of you may be interested in showing solidarity with these workers in their attempts to improve conditions in their workplace. I know union discussion isn't explicitly “anti-work” but I firmly believe democratizing workplaces is a step towards societal abolition of work and we should always support and stand by the workers of a shop in their fight against the company.
