The protest that will take down America.

There have been tons of protests recent years. I think in the near future there will be one so large that America will come to a halt and either the government will act and fighting will start, or something will be done to address the protesters grievances. The protests will be one or more about wages, health care, taxes, government priorities when it comes to funding and what taxes are spent on, housing costs, food costs, goods costs, corruption within the government, college costs. Most likely a combo of all. Every day people have less and less to lose.

Friend is being bullied in a toxic environment and she’s doing nothing about it

My friend at my college is constantly being bullied by her coworkers and peers. She always comes and tells me about it. It hurts me at times and she keeps running into the same people all the time and she is constantly approaching them all the time after work and she speaks to them. They keep bullying her and make fun of her for this. They call her “bitch” and “whore” and she still keeps trying to make friends with them. I don't know what to tell her. Even the managers bully her, lol.

not allowed to refuse unsafe work

i just found this subreddit and i hope this fits here. this story is about 4 months old. i’ve been having issues looking for work and i finally found a job listing for a mail sorter through a temp agency that started at 2:30 am and required 10-25 lbs to be lifted (important later) i got the message and i confirmed that i was able to only work on the weekends and they added i made up my own hours as long as it was 2:30-8:00 am which was fine. i started and red flags were already going off. i spent 10 minutes trying to find the place, had to enter with the manager and i was incredibly lost because i had no training. i started organising packages with some people who helped which was nice but then we stopped and i got called over to a shelf and told…

How much is it costing you to go to work?

With the pandemic waning, many more companies are talking about forcing their workers back into the office. At the same time, inflation in the US is biting at about 7.5% (so far), yet many employers are staunchly unwilling to adjust their compensation or expectations to the new realities of our unnecessarily miserable working lives, even as they find new ways and justifications to give themselves offensively larger cuts of the profits we make possible for them during “these unprecedented times”. What I want to know is how many of you have done the math on what it costs you to go to the office, in terms of money, vehicle ownership and upkeep, time, and stress, etc. A friend did the math and figured out it's costing them somewhere around six thousand dollars and close to five hundred hours a year for their job to arbitrarily demand that they drive to…

How to Spot a Crypto-Fascist

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx4BVGPkdzk This post is in response to many comments I saw on a recently locked post. I saw a lot of people making the “don't muddy the waters” argument, which is classic crypto-fascist rhetoric. The goal of this argument is get people to be reluctant to call out fascism and Nazism when they see it. Don't fall it. This is a form of Strategy #3 – Pedantry. So what do you do when you spot a crypto-fascist in this sub? Just reply “I see you” to their comment, and link this video to the text. Take away their power by letting them know we see through their bullshit. Of course, not everyone making this argument is actually a fascist. They could just be a gullible Centrist. Don't let that stop you from calling it out. The worst that could happen is you spread awareness of how crypto-fascists operate. Don't be…

Why join a union?

There's two primary benefits to being in a union in a non-unionised environment. The first is access to the union's legal resources, you can usually get free advice on employment matters from qualified solicitors, and in the event of an actual tribunal or court case related to your employment, you get the union's solicitors instead of whatever solicitor you can afford on your own. The second is representation at disciplinary hearings. You always have the right to bring a companion to disciplinary hearings, who can present your case for you and sum up your position, and talk to you and give you advice on how to proceed. As a union member, you get to bring a union representative to these meetings, someone who has been specifically trained by the union to deal with these hearings. In my personal experience the latter is even more powerful when a workplace is not…
