Remote” Today I quit. Sent in my 2 weeks and I feel free. I feel like a baggage has been lifted off of me. But now the job agency is chasing me with calls. Back story: I work with a company through this job agent, I made it know that I wanted a better opportunity and the job agent said if you found one you can go for it. I think found one, I applied and a different representative from the job agency called me to represent me and push my resume as I'm a perfect fit. Only for my representative to call me and said NO. That I couldn't apply for another job while I'm under their contract..I said I'll put in my 2 weeks right away. The rep said oh nooo, don't send in two weeks yet we'll see what we can do. .. I was calling and…
Let this be a cautionary anecdote ladies, gentlemen, and all. I want to caution anyone reading this to avoid Goodwill like the plague, both in regards to employment and shopping, if it can be helped. So, I'm a Cashier with Goodwill (at least until I quit, as they certainly don't have the manpower to fire me). My job description, as is plainly iterated and reiterated both verbally and in writing, is to assist customers by ringing up their purchases, as well as ensuring the sales floor is stocked and well put-together. What my job is not is all of the oftentimes laborious and unforgiving work of a Donation Attendant. So imagine my surprise when the manager who writes the schedule intercepts me as I'm going to clock in. She hands me a pair of work gloves and tells me: “You're going to be a D.A today!” Immediately, she can see…
Anti resignation radio commercials
I just started a new job and have been listening to radio stations I normally don't hear. There's been at least once an hour commercial talking about what could happen if you don't give 2 weeks notice, 2 weeks may not be enough notice if you're a “key role” in a company and are difficult to replace and that people aren't normally aware of “wrongful resignation”. This is the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. I feel like it's meant to shit on people who listen to the radio at work and are on the fence about leaving for a better job into fearing leaving their employer.
Hello everyone! I have been working from home for about a month and half due to my dad's cancer coming back. This time the cancer is more aggressive and the doctors have told us to prepare for the worst. I am a (26M), I have been helping my mom with anything she needs. My mom can't work at the moment because she's taking care of my dad 100% of the time. I also have a (13M) little brother who needs to be taken and picked up from school as well as after school activities. Since we have nobody else to help, I have been taking him everywhere. I am also on the phone constantly with the hospital and handling all legal preparations for when the worst happens. You could say my plate is already very full. Yesterday, upper management let me know that I need to come back into the…
I see comments where people will say “I do about 3 hours of work a day, then I just sit around play video games, and watch Netflix rest of my shift and I get 8 hours.” Like, how do you get a job like that.

Theory on worker shortage.
Under Trump there was a slow down in immigration into the US. The pandemic also did not help with the flow of immigration as much as the media tries to paint the “caravans of evil” to take yer jerb. So, IMO I belive that what we are seeing is a compounding of events where those lower wage workers who certain “groups” complain about are not there to fill those “unskilled” jobs. That's why there is a gap that cannot be explained. So now these types of businesses are waking up to the fact that they cannot exploit that work force because it has dried up. Edit: I do not believe that the average American will do the jobs that those who immigrate here for a better life will do. They deserve better and make up the foundation of the US economy. They should be treated with respect and have the…
