Hello all. I (20F) quit my job at JoAnn Fabrics about two weeks ago because I got a better paying job for a lower position at a grocery store. The TL;DR of it all is that COVID was not taken seriously at my workplace and the general manager was on a bit of a power trip. With that out of the way, let me get started. This might be a lot. I was hired at JoAnn Fabrics in October of 2020 to the tune of $10/hr, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic being in full-swing at the time, or rather, what we thought was full swing at the time, I got an extra $2 of premium pay, so I was making $12 an hour as a part-time cashier. The premium pay went away in January of 2021. I stayed in this position for six months until they mentioned that one…
How Do I Help These People?
Our town centre KFC has recently had its opening hours extended into the night, without the staffing being increased. Orders are stacking up, staff are stressed, and it’s leading to mistakes. I’ve been stuck here an hour whilst the 4 staff members handle the 40+ orders being submitted hourly. How do I help these people? I’ve tweeted to them, but it’s tough to specify details without risking the workers’ getting fired etc. What do I do to raise my voice in support of the people who suffer dealing with this mess?
I work at a fast food restaurant, and we are always swamped on Super Bowl day. We have orders placed days in advance. We had about 100 orders that were made in advance that Sunday. And because we have new cashiers that don’t know how to do their job, they ended up giving some people their food for free. (call-in orders get paid for when you get to the restaurant, and these cashiers didn’t know this) So I ordered my free employee meal today, one of the VERY FEW benefits of working in fast food, and I’m told I have to pay for it. That nobody is getting their employee meal for the rest of the week because so many orders got handed out for free. One, this is not my problem and, two, this is definitely not legal. So I’m pissed. Nobody is ordering their employee meals so some…
IRS, US Government, and State are trash.
The IRS, US Government, and State have taken out a total of $5000 out of my paychecks last year for taxes. I work full time and get paid $17/hr at a job where if something goes wrong, you can really hurt yourself (ex. getting sucked into an engine if you’re not careful) I’m trying to make ends meet. What do they pay me back in taxes? Barely $700. I only get 14% of the money, I gave away, back from these leaches in Washington. This country is fucking ridiculous.
So basically I had a customer today we will call her Sandra, she runs a business and charged her customer a thousand dollars through our service. so when she charges ther customer's card our service takes out the money from her customer and we fund it to sandra's account. A few months after that transaction our company took that thousand dollars money out from sandra's account and notified her that her customer disputed the transaction and that we returned the money to their customer. but we spoke to her customer and their bank and they said they never disputed it and never recieved the money back at all. So sandra has thousand dollars less on her bank account and her customer also has thousand dollars less on the bank coz they never recieved the money back at all. When I escalated it to my supervisor all they can say is…
I worked night shifts as a manager in a four star hotel, for five years. While during the pandemic, the administration decided to freeze management salaries, as business was slow, unionised staff members were still getting there negotiated raises. After two years of covid, they tried to justified the fact they were paying me about the same as a new hired by stating they didn't had budget and underlining I wasn't paying fees for the union to negotiate for me and therefore was saving on that amount and didn't need a larger pay than other employees even considering my position. I left and now work day shift in a union as a clerk for another hotel chain for the same pay.
I work at a small grocery store and just need to get some hurt off my chest. Let me first say my boss has been one of the greatest the past year and a half, I moved and started in a new industry and he was very accommodating and understanding but I've worked in restaurants and should have learned my boundaries between boss and workers, just because your boss is friendly does not mean he or she is your friend; which was made painfully real for me tonight. This past few months have been very hard on me for various reasons and I have some mental illness nothing clinical… I don't think so at least; but enough where if shit gets too much I need to be on my own and take a second to sort shit out; like we all do. I had to work closely with my boss…
