Something has got to give, man. Something, somewhere.
“Not filling this position anymore”
I live in one the most expensive counties in Colorado, and everyone is experiencing a staffing shortage. Everyone. I have had two rounds of interviews for two separate jobs in the past couple of months that eventually told me they were no longer filling the position. After telling me how desperate they were to have someone in to start ASAP. Both jobs cost me 5+ hours in resume editing, cover letter drafting, and stupid online applications; 4+ hours in interviews (plus time off work to get to them); and more than 3 weeks of waiting nervously just to be told they’re not filling the position. Whyyyy are these stupid organizations allowed to waste my time, money, and energy like this??
Education is a choice, cancer is not
I’m only 19 and i’m already so sick and tired of working. I hate the “ people don’t want to work” shit. It’s not that we don’t want to work it’s that teens and emerging adults are expected to work 5-6 days of the week for Pennies and dimes putting up with fuck ass people that deserved to be punched in the throat but yet we have to have to be nice to them. Fuck that. I hate it. Every single day I wonder what I’ve done in my past life to deserve this torture of existing.
Seems like a great place to works [sic]
When pandemic started, I had a conversation with my boss saying I won't be going back to the office. He suggested we'd chat again later, but I insisted on sticking to my guns. Standing up for yourself does not imply that you are disrespecting your boss or coworkers. Healthy boundaries and limits should be applied to your relationship with your boss and everyone else. Whatever decision you make now will have an impact on your children. We spent our days caught in traffic, away from our family and pets, and by the time we arrived home, we were exhausted. Let's stick to our guns now so our children would not be exploited in the future.
I must have seen about a million “suck it up lol why can't you just go back to the office, what does it matter?!” type comments recently – likely because of the larger and large amount of extremely ill-advised public officials who seem to have forgotten that there's still a pandemic raging, and that people are still rightfully scared of the outside world. Here in NY, we have a moron for a mayor who insists that not only does he want to REMOVE the mask mandate, he also wants to stop checking vaccination status. Because clearly, when you're taking pills to feel better, the second you start to get better is when you stop taking them. /s So to all of these people, I want to point out the obvious stuff you can't seem to grasp: Commute. Working from home saves people time – time that their jobs already do…
