I’ve been self-employed for more than a decade and I am considering going back into the regular paycheck with benefits job force. Admittedly, my career enables me to work remotely and that’s all I will consider, but this subreddit makes me wonder if employers are turning the screws now out of some sort of panic over the “Great Resignation,” or are bad employers only now being exposed. Also, if you’re not familiar with GlassDoor, which is like a Yelp for employees to anonymously review employers, you might want to check it out. I think employers might begin to change their behaviors if they’re publicly called out. Images of ridiculous signs and heartbreaking stories is eye opening for readers like me, but most are people posting don’t name the company. I absolutely see why, but maybe GlassDoor is a good alternative.
I just need another rest day to go to the bank, do chores etc. Usually if I go somewhere to relax my time is cut short and I start to dread Mondays. Also studies show it improves productivity as staff is more motivated.
I'm a vet. And more specifically I'm a surgeon that performs very big/complex procedures ( I have lots of advanced training). I worked at a non-profit clinic. I didn't make as much as my counterparts in private/ for-profit clinics, but I was happy enough as I could help people- people that couldn't afford fracture repair, liver shunt surgery, cruciate ligament surgery (TPLO), etc., elsewhere. And while I was comfortable with my wages, we as a profession have FAILED our nurses. They are our lifeline. I can't even dress myself- I need someone to help me get ready for surgery. I need someone to monitor complex anesthesia cases. I Need someone to place IV catheters in 3lb kittens. And we pay them $14 dollars an hour. However, the CEO, according to form 990, gets big raises each year. But there's “no money in the budget” for the nurses. A budget I…
I think I've just completed the 7 levels of hell when it comes to job applications. You know sites like Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor that force you to make a profile before you can apply anywhere? I have a profile on all of them. Anyway I was browsing on Indeed for jobs and followed through an “Apply through company's website” link that redirected me to a Hosco platform, which forced me to make a profile again. And after I was done completing all the questions again, I had to find the same job ad, click on a similar link to apply which finally brought me to the real company's job application form.. Which asked me if I want to complete my profile via Indeed or LinkedIn. Did a full 360°. [Insert rage meme] This trend seriously needs to die. I can't be the only one frustrated by the 7 levels of…
Take three twenty minute shits per shift even if you don't go. Let's start a movement routine and take back an hour everyday. Do your shopping online, read a book on your phone, check your social media, pass the movement along and spread the word of this new rule. I've been doing this for awhile and in my experience, twenty minutes on the toilet isn't enough to cut off the circulation in my legs, but your results may vary.
