Recently got a new job in my field (YAY!) and let my job of 4 years know. They were bummed but nice about it. I originally gave 2 weeks to be kind, but my wedding is next week and I’ve been completely overwhelmed. (I’m also a student in a PhD level program). After I announced, my boss started to pile a lot of extra work on me. Basically all of the stuff that no one else does/knows how to do. I quickly became super overwhelmed and behind. I got all of my original responsibilities done, but let him know respectfully and nicely that I would have to end today and not next week. I apologized profusely because I do truly feel bad. As soon as this happened, I was met with hostility from coworkers. One blocked me on social media, removed me from the work chat (while I was typing…
I posted before about this the company I work for has tried this in the past but immediately shut it down due to being against the law . Now they have brought it back stating that company policy is that any breaks outside of our two 10 minutes and our one hour lunch has to be clocked out for they specifically stated bathroom breaks even though the Fair Labor act States a company cannot discourage or require an employee to clock out for a bathroom break that falls underneath 20 minutes after informing them of this multiple times before which cause them to stop this they brought it back and today I brought this to their attention again and they are now stating that if we go to the bathroom outside of our lunch break or our 10-minute breaks we must clock out or we must get an accommodation for…
No LinkedIn, we’ll take the pay, please.
Sleep. It’s Only For The Weak
I work in a kitchen at a truck stop. We have two shifts: Morning shift 4am-12pm and afternoon which is 12pm-8pm. I work the latter shift. Today my coworker got fired. Dude opened up a fresh box of chicken to make himself a meal as we were closing last night. Manager comes in this morning, sees an open box of chicken and wonders why. She checks the cameras, sees what he did and that he didn’t pay for it, she calls him and he lies and said he paid, and now he’s fired. I guess that’s fair, dude made him a full course meal and stole it. I don’t think it’s a big deal, but it’s on camera so management had to make a move. Dude lost his job, but I’m fucked over by it too. He’s supposed to work the 4-12 shift tomorrow, but now that’s on me. So…
How everyone should talk to their boss
Anything appreciated.
Fiance just got Fired
Soo yeah, my fiance worked in very toxic work place. It was work from home and my fiance has worked there since july. Her first week, she was called a know it all for “asking questions” by her manager. She was ignored in chats for time sensitive questions or follow ups by management. She's had to take on other people's tasks bc employees were clocking in and not actually working….and when brought up, management basically told her to fuck off. This caused my fiance to have mental break down bc she'd be the one getting yelled at by customers and contractors for management incompetence constantly. She brought up her concerns and was told “your generation doesn't know how to work” BY THE FUCKING CEO in a meeting. Since then I told her to communicate in writing and recording her meetings. In the last 30 days, they have since hired new…
CEO called me a bad investment
I've been unemployed for a while. And after posting about it on LinkedIn I got invited by a company to apply for a medior function that sounded perfect for me. The vacancy described me >100%. I had more than the asked years of experience, met all the requirements and even all the bonus points. And on top of that, the salary indication was 2500-3000 monthly based on experience. I was pretty confident I was on the higher side of the salary indication. It sounded perfect for me, so obviously i applied. Then after many calls with basically everyone from the team. I got an offer. The offer was “junior, 1800 monthly”, no pension, no bonuses. I told them that was a ridiculous offer, and that they insulted me. Asked why they think I'm a junior, and said I can't accept an offer that is basically minimum wage, for a stressful…
