My Antiwork history
Hello all, As most of you, I’m a very vocal anti-corporate advocate with friends and family. This can be a bit awkward since I grew up in a country in which there’s a very strong culture of “just being thankful you have a job”, which results in a lot of company ass-kissing by employees (which makes me sick). Anyway, something that my acquaintances have brought up from time to time is that it’s easy for me to be like that because I’m in computer science and have had great jobs, and great prospects for future employment (which is a fair observation). But I want to tell you today a story of one of my first jobs in high school. I was 17 and working for a big chain of big retail stores. Working conditions were atrocious as per usual for such jobs, but there are two incidents that I remember…

I’m resigning, thanks to a post on here
Hello everybody, I'll have to serve my notice period, but I'm quitting following a post I read on here about leveling up and hopping jobs to level up salary. I've been where I'm at for a few years, had some excellent results for the company (£400k+ in saving each year) and they've done very well. Meanwhile, I was deducted a few hundred from my 2% annual bonus because the company hadn't done as well as they had hoped overseas. My workload has exponentially increased, some people have left and I've consumed their workload without any reward as “it's good experience”. I'm the only one that manages several key aspects of the company, again because of “good experience” and not for any kind of reward. Following the job-hopping post here and after receiving the pathetic bonus I put my CV online. Had several agents immediately contact me and offer interviews. The…
You want coverage 24/7/365 and outside of normal hours? Hire a second and/or third shift. Enough of this bullshit, we need a employees bill of rights, salaried positions need to be done away with. This doesn’t look very good does it?
Makes sense to me.
Hear me out… I just watched a day without a Mexican (great movie) and I’m thinking maybe a movie called “a day without the working class” post COVID… I’m talkin everyone who isn’t at the top profiting in excess just decides NO MORE not until the entire work force can earn a living wage…among other incentives ya know the ones the folks at the top get! I say all this to say I word for a franchise of a company (IHOP) and they literally kept one our locations open because it was a tax right off! Profits over the people! They don’t care about customers, and they damn sure don’t care about employees! And I worked with so many other folks who would have bent over backwards to make the store run efficiently and anytime they would ask her to help she would! And when she asked for more pay…
I work at a family business that isn’t open to the public. There are three of us who run the place – Jim is my uncle, who is supposed t be our manager. Len is a family friend. Jim is a very selfish conversationalist and absolutely dominates any conversation he walks into, uninvited or not. The running joke is that Jim can here people talking from up to 5 miles away and can travel at light speed to said conversation and immediately start a full on TED talk. Jim will often take a break during work and sit and tell stories about how awesome he is, how everyone loves him, he saves the day in every story. His stories can melt into each other and before you know it, he’s been talking for over an hour. Sometimes he does this at the end of the day and talks until it’s…
How should I get my picture taken down?
Last year I landed my dream job, but had to leave after a few months. The manager was an asshole, using she/her for a non binary coworker, sexually harassing customers and staff, having ME be the main trainer and do managerial duties even though I was on base $16/hr pay, run twitch streams on shift and donate $500+ to streamers while saying that he can't pay me more, and a whole litany of other terrible things. I recently looked them up, and they're still using 3 pictures of me on their Google page, two of them insinuate that I work there. I had said it was okay to use them, but that agreement should've ended with my employment. I don't want my picture up there anymore, what witty thing should I send my old asshat boss to get those taken down?
