Navigating Stress Leave/FMLA
I took leave from work due to extreme burnout and anxiety that was driving suicidal thoughts. I took the right steps, I got an emergency consultation with a healthcare provider, they wrote me a note to excuse me from work and set me up with follow up appointments with a therapist and a psychiatrist. They also filled out FMLA because my workplace required it. Now navigating all of this was extremely taxing as this whole system feels antagonistic to someone suffering a mental health crisis. At this point I’ve met with the therapist, who was incredibly useless and when I tried to discuss not feeling ready to return to work she spoke over me and just told me to discuss with the psychiatrist. So I met with the psychiatrist and was prescribed medication and again when I tried to discuss not feeling ready to return, how I felt I would…
The CEO of the nonprofit I work for tried to motivate/ inspire us all this morning to donate to the agency. We'll get free t shirts too. Fuck this guy.
I’ve seen a lot of people on this sub say things along the lines of “if you can’t pay more than min wage then you shouldn’t have a business”. But I mostly see very small businesses on those posts. When I first got hired at my job I got paid min wage, I’ve worked their for nearly 2 years and have gotten 2 promotions with raises and a raise by it self. I get wanting to be paid more; however, if a small business can’t pay more than min wage so they don’t get workers and this needs to shut down, doesn’t that just open the door for nothing but millionaires and billionaires running all businesses? Which from what I’ve read on here as well, you guys also seem to be against. Maybe I’m missing something but what do you want? Do you not work anywhere that can’t pay more…
i worked at a retail store that retaliated against me for reporting to corporate that the store managers refused to do anything about sexual harassment of a coworker. they started dicking with my schedule and then i reported them for that. and they literally dicked with schedule so bad i made almost no money for a month. so i just pointed out i'm fucking sick of the retaliation and under staffing. half the fucking store left because of the bullshit they are pulling. hell my last act was to order a tv i needed because the back light on mine died and i can't see shit on it without the back light. i may not be able to make the payments on it but fuck em. i got the tv tax free because of the employee discount.
A few months ago everyone was all gung-ho about not going to McDonalds until they increased wages…now no one mentions it and I see a line around the corner at my local McDonalds. What happend???
