It sounds amazing at first – free monies? Hell yeah! But you’ll realize that’s how they keep you from moving on to better jobs AND pay you less. Also, if they fire you, they will take those RSU back. Golden-cuffs? Nah, just plain cuffs.
Medical bill help.
Hi all. I’ve got about 2-4k in pending medical bills. Not a lot compared with many of you. What is the best way of handling it? These are my thoughts: – a lot of them are in collections – I really could pay them all but then be back to broke. – my wife and I spent ~50k paying student debt and I’ve now learned that you can basically wait it out (I think?) – I don’t want to waste what little money we have – all of the services have resulted in no actual benefit to my wife over almost a year (insomnia, sleep apnea, hemophiliac, concussion, healthy otherwise and athletic) Just a bad year and shitty insurance. We are trying to start our own business because only we can see our worth. We will have no employees. These bills and typical life bills keep the boot on our…

What’s the deal with HR?
So HR at my (UK office) workplace sent out a new holiday request form. It's bureaucracy gone mad as it's a physical piece of paper when the old way was just forwarding the email chain of me asking for time off and my manager approving it. So I print the form, fill it out, get my managers signature (who's still working from home due to covid), scan the paper document, email the scan to HR and ask them to confirm everything is filled out correctly etc. I've heard nothing back from HR. Is it so difficult for HR to reply to emails? Guarantee if I do something wrong they'd be on my back instantly. Now that I've a question they just ghost me. They don't even answer then phones. Is this normal? Is all HR departments like this? Can I complain about it to HR? How would I even do…
Mine said “business opportunities don’t wait for holidays to be over”. The fuck?!?!?!

Cereal is on Sale
I’ve been going back and forth about sharing a poem I wrote in 2018. It fits the theme of this sub and I saw someone else shared one recently so I figured I should share mine. It’s titled Cereal is on Sale and I read it almost every time I do a poetry reading event. Also excuse the lack of punctuation. I originally wrote it on my phone and never went back and edited it. Tagged nsfw to be safe. Edit: fixed formatting. Stupid Reddit app on iOS. My body has resorted to autonomy due to the monotony of my routines Corded like the umbilical still attached to mommy in biblical proportions My view of this reality is distorted because I can’t afford to stop feeding off the titties of these corporations I have to relinquish myself from their visceral grasp that has me locked in like a parent holding…
As the title states, how do you guys respond to this question? It aggravates me to see “we offer a competitive salary” in the job description, and pisses me off even more to then be asked what my salary expectations are. Since I am in dire need of a position in my field that has a minimum monthly salary (I'm a third-country national in Europe), I usually bend over backwards and give them the minimum that I'm legally required to earn in hopes that I'm offered something before I go absolutely broke. I am curious how the rest of you, perhaps especially those of you secure in your field with experience or greater leverage, tackle this bullshit?
