Not working is still a lot of work.
I love the idea of not having to work, but the truth is that not working is also a lot of work, you just work for yourself. There's nothing wrong with that except it's not always easy to do that. I think old fashioned communes had the right idea before they went sideways. Honestly though, “it takes a village” is true.
Basically I was wearing a headscarf (the way I wrap them in the winter makes me look like a hijabi, I’m aware of this because I’m routinely mistaken for a hijabi) and went into a Day’s Inn to pick up an application. I was told they were not hiring… but the week before I went in with my hair showing and was told they needed someone for the front desk overnight. When I called the next day (EDIT: after being told they were not hiring) they said they were hiring and needed someone at the front desk overnight, again /: I do not want to work at a place that is managed by Islamaphobes, so fuck that job, but I think I was (however incorrectly) profiled and I want to report it. Any tips? Happened in Virginia, US.
I highly recommend researching this site for market comps when negotiating salaries – www.h1bdata.info It provides insights into current salaries for roles you may be interviewing. While this is heavily focussed on tech/pharma/healthcare where you find H1bs, the payscales for GC/Citizens are remarkably similar.
Wonder if some companies exist just to make people suffer. A lot of businesses seem fully aware their products suck, and their policies hurt people. …Feels like at least few are run by actual psychopaths. Like it's not just about profit financially for them, but about inflicting and causing human misery and suffering for sheer pleasure – and on a mass scale whenever possible. No end goal, other than a compulsive drive to cause harm, and as much as possible, no matter the cost. Serious villain stuff. Private jets, mansions, yachts, …nothing must compare to the joy they get throwing money at giant buildings no one can afford to live in, and funding causes that target the poorest individuals of society. Helping fuel the fire of the worldwide housing crisis must be like a thousand orgasms at once for them. Or helping to start conflicts in small villages, and wars…
For those of you who aren't familiar with DDP, he was a former WCW and WWE wrestler that lost his way in his career at a time when he was already deemed “too old” to be a pro wrestler and his touring buddies that were like family were losing their way in life. Scott Hall is probably the most famous example as heroin use and alcoholism were destroying his body as well as being a wrestler. DDP took him in and helped transform his life with his unique style of lifestyle and fitness coaching. He added 20 years to his life and then built a business around this. He took fitness, made it profitable, improving the lives of millions at this point and created a way to staff happy, fit and useful people that had a legitimate passion for something that does better for the world in almost every way…
to the tickets please guy, you rock.
Thanks for scanning our coach tickets and not charging us extra to sit in business class. It's a full train and u the man.
Its none of my business if the store makes this much money this hour, or any time for that matter. It's not like either of us gets a dime of extra pay if we make the business profitable today. This is why I detest working in a retail environment dominated by the idea that you need to “sell, sell, sell!” If you really wanna make me sell things, make it worth my time.
