After months of being unemployed and searching, I finally got a call from a construction company that I can start immediately! Unfortunately, a few days ago my water pump went out in my car and have no way to commute the 40 minutes to the job due to living in a very rural area of Florida. Sometimes the deck just gets stacked way too high. Can’t win for losing. Truly ready to just stop existing at this point.
Dont answer demographic questions, ever.
It goes without saying this post is for American job seekers: but if you're checking anything other than white & male just don't even bother answering those questions. In fact If you're a white male and you're answering those questions, you should stop immediately to help fight against hiring discrimination. See why below ⬇️ I was in an interview today and a panelist revealed to me that they choose NOT to look at demographic info when screening applicants. For context, i asked the question of how they personally combat bias in their lives and this was someone's response. I personally stopped checking the boxes a while ago and it's only slightly improved my chances of getting to the interview stage. But the fact that I've noticed the difference is really sad. Anyone else recently stopped answering the questions and noticed the difference?
Ok so I need some better and more direct information on how to go about forming a union at my workplace. Look I get that it's a lot of work and Ive been taking a sizeable amount of effort into doing the ground work. But I keep running into a wall of what the next steps are. I don't want to involve anyone else outside of the like 4 people that know what's going on until I know what I need to really do. Our company is like 75 people in the warehouse and there are stores as well. I am not really sure what to do and I don't want to risk my job by coming half steppin. Please and thanks Tldr: I know I can't just declare bankruptcy by saying that the word so how do I form a union.
Hurt (My version)
I quit my job today, To see if my boss can feel. I focused on the wage, Which is so unreal. The inflation tears a hole, The old familiar sting. Try to buy something nice, But I can't afford anything. What have we become? My sweetest friend. Everyone I know goes into debt, In the end. And you will steal it all, Even my bones and dirt. Still your profits will be down, Still you will accuse me of hurt. I wear these clothes torn, Upon my half broken chair. Full of holes, I cannot repair. Beneath greed and crime, Your feelings disappear. You not someone else, Left me rotting right here. What have you become? My sweetest friend. Everyone who works for you goes away, In the end. And you could have it all, This planet of dirt. You will still feel let down, You will still be hurt.…
All my life I have been slotted into a world of servitude and I never see it changing. It doesn’t matter how much I make, I’m stuck living the life of a peasant. To clarify I’m not jealous of those that have more. I just want to be able to live my own life. I don’t care about your spreadsheet or payroll or project or how you need to build whatever. But I’m forced to take your order, know your name or give you a quote. I don’t live the life I want to and have know idea how it can change…
To preface, I’m a college student with three (now two) part time jobs to make a living. This job is pretty much me as a tech support contractor to people’s homes. Basically I had an appointment where I trained a new guy, who gave me a ride because my car is at a shop due to an accident, and it ended up being longer than expected but it also ended up the customer writing a check for a couple grand. Usually when paid in check I hang onto it until the I have a few of them before going to my boss’s bank to deposit them. This is something he has also told me to just do with checks. As I didn’t have a car the guy I trained just took me home without much thought. I had my other job the next day and had my friend take me…
I plan on completing a Cybersecurity course at my university and then searching for IT jobs in Europe that will sponsor a work visa. Hope all goes well
