The problem is major corporations with 1000's of employees can offer such low prices for products and services that smaller businesses can no longer break into the market with out some sort of advantage that allows them to compete with the numbers. Unfortunately that means a lot of small businesses are taking advantage of the labor force to cut costs. In some cases having 50 to 250 employees can still be considered a small business. It is the capitalist end game right, we end up with one resteraunt, one retailer, one of everything, anti monopoly laws do not work because no one can afford to compete. Amazon and Walmart may as well be the same company. You think Jeff Bezos even cares if Walmart took 5% of the market that week. You think the Walmart family even listens to the numbers any mora at all? It is getting worse too.…

“Are you even sick?” Yes Michelle. I am sick. Sick of your shit attitude.
24$ an hour is what you would get adjusted with the rate of inflation. This sounds much more reasonable and all these anti workers making less than that number would certainly work for that as the floor yea? My guess for why the minimum wage hasn't matched inflation: 1) Greed 2) Money 3) Power 4) Failure That is all. Adjust minimum wage to inflation and let the people support the economy, not the fat cats. And fuck whoever says shit other wise. It doesn't matter if it “rAiSeS PrICes” because prices have already been raised time and fucking time again while the bar was dragged through shit and vommit. Tell them politiely to eat the biggest bag of shit ever.
So the other day my 5yo son was asking if I could play a video game with him when he got back from school, and I was like, “I hope so, but it depends on this call I have for work and if it goes over time.” He replied, “Don't trust work.” And look, he's 5, so to him this was an instance-specific comment cause he wanted to play Mario, but for me, I'm like, “Hey, yeah. I shouldn't trust work.” So I figured I'd bring it to you all in case the words of this child can help you, too. Of course, I'm also now thinking about merch, like “Keep Calm and…” posters and black font on white oval stickers that read “DTW” for the back of your car. 🙂
I've been at my current employment for about 3 years. When hired, the company 'created' this position I have to be the only full time estimator, to alleviate work from the owner. I think I've done a well enough job creating structure and processes for the position, won a few million dollars worth of work, and have been a good soldier to the company. Lately however I have been completely checked out. After constant lambasting from owners and PMs, the feeling of exhaustion from unending bids to submit with no support, the inadequacies from coworkers which in turn requires me to do their job, I have mentally given up. Before I went 100% off, I noticed the company was looking for a Sr. Estimator, to essentially go above me.. Feeling bitter and then some, I engaged my search for new employment. I set up five interviews this week and have…
