Neon Museum Las Vegas took away our tips

I was hired at the Neon Museum as a tour guide. I was told I could accept tips. Last week the entire staff had a meeting. The CEO put a clear box on the counter and told us we could not accept tips and if we were offered tips, we had to put them in the clear donation box. https://preview.redd.it/hooo5ff0koi81.png?width=526&format=png&auto=webp&s=b228ab1d93a323585cc0017cddffb6a3dd36d4bb The Museum admin says we are “education” so we don't deserve tips. However we are a tourist attraction on the Las Vegas Strip and we see hundreds of tourists a day. For reference we get paid very little and no tips puts us below living wage. In fact, this is about a 40 percent pay cut for us. They brought this up in a meeting that actually was embarrassing for our staff because for us to advocate, many people had to disclose their finances and that they can't make it…

Is it me or some developing countries’ major cities have it better than the US?

Like for example even if you are a low wage earner in Metro Manila, you have enough to pay rent and not go homeless without resorting to having a second job. Maybe barely but still not homeless and not having to work more than 8-9hrs a day. Or Im just ignorant. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Do you even have a proper first aid kit?

I feel like some of the most important parts of this new labor rights movement is still being severely overlooked. I’m referring to public health practices and lack of basic health and safety regulations. I know this problem can be regional as I have worked in multiple states, but the current state I live and work in, public health and safety regulation is absent. The mandatory fliers are on the wall stating the minimum aspects of a safe and healthy workplace, but most restaurants and small businesses I’ve worked with (again especially in this state), don’t even have a proper first aid kit. I found this out the hard way multiple times. Last night after requesting that we get a proper first aid kit and my boss saying (and this is a direct quote) “figure out what we may be missing and put that on the grocery list” I found…

My Boss Knows Literally Nothing (HELP)

Hey! Let’s keep this short and simple; my boss is a nice dude, sure, but omg – he literally has no idea about anything. Like fills the day up with meetings and rambles on so he doesn’t have to do any actual work. He never has any idea the status of anything. When my team explains things to him, right after we are done, we literally have to reexplain it because he already forgot. He comes in late and leaves early. He asks other people to do things he could do if he literally made a 5 min phone call. Has no idea how to use any of our programs/softwares and can never find anything in a clearly labeled folder. I’ve been hustling my ass, coming in early, staying late, and working at home. Anything he doesn’t do falls onto me. He’s so reactive and I’m proactive so it’s literally…

Put the salary range in the job posting!!!

Why can't we just put the salary range in the position description? It's so frustrating. I know it's intentional on the part of the employer, but the thing I really don't get is that it wastes the employer's time just like it wastes the candidate's time. I applied for a position that did not include the salary range in the description. The application asked for the minimum acceptable salary, and I was honest about what would be acceptable to me. I was contacted for an interview, and I accepted. During the interview, the hiring manager asked me what the minimum salary I'd accept is, and I told her. She kind of made a face at my response, which I knew was a bad sign. I was offered the position a few hours after the interview for $11,000 less than the salary I asked for. It was also a slight pay…
