Management just decided that they will schedule everyone 8-5 and change your schedule to the actual hours the night before. We are to check before bed every night. Their reasoning for this is that because the surgery schedule at our surgery center changes all the time with last minute add ons, cancellations, etc. We used to have 6-2, 7-3, etc. posted a couple weeks in advance, but sometimes that would change the day of and enough people got irritated that they are changing everyone to 8-5. The thing though is that most of our surgeries start at 8, meaning we usually get there 645-7. They also are not offering any extra pay or incentives for this change. Full time is considered 24+ hours here, so it seems weird that we have to make our availability 45 hours. Also, if we have any appointments or anything that we need to tend…
Servers have to provide their own bank?
So today I was discussing with a fellow employee their previous job as a server at a restaurant in our area and she opened my eyes to something I have never heard of before and I want to find out if this is common practice at another establishments. My coworker told me that as a server she had to bring her own money to make change for the guest she waited on, and that if she didn't have the cash on hand to make change then she would be sent home. I was floored and then immediately furious. How can an employer get away with something like this and is it even legal? If I was presented with news like that at an interview or on my first day I would laugh my ass right out the front door. So have any of you ever encountered or heard of this…
I've been working for a company for just under 8 years now, and today was my last day. I tried to return the equipment, but they were expecting me to PAY to ship it back to them, and they will “reimburse me” which I refuse on principle, and I don't believe they will pay me back. I wouldn't lend the company 10 cents at this point. Now I have to deal with this for another day, and wait on them to ship the actual boxes. Corporations show the strongest traits of all the upper management. Why are they so fucking terrible?
So yesterday I made a post on r/vent about my work situation and because I don't wanna type that all out again go read that here today I went into my work and put my hat on the table in front of my manager and told him I quit and walked out, I called him back because I needed to get my tips mailed to me and he told me “the way you quit was inappropriate and unprofessional” so I told him I didn't give a shit of professionalism and that the way I've been treated wasn't okay, he hung up in the middle of my speech. At least I have an interview tomorrow and hopefully that job is better
So to start off I accepted a retail job with the promise of 40 hours a week minimum and recently mine and the majority of my coworkers hours have been being cut by huge amounts. I on average worked 40 hours sometimes 45 hours a week now I’m lucky to get 30 at the moment, my manager said sales traffic is slow during the winter so we’ve been working less but the hours are not cutting it and I have fees and bills to pay what should I do? (This is my first time working retail btw )
I have another job (not work free yet) but I just said “nah” to the one I'm working now. I actually was being a two timing player the whole time, just using the fast casual restaurant for their money I needed before the other thing started.. And the restaurant wanted my company lol. Still feel guilty though. For being a ho. Any ways I can not feel like a ho?
“We’re giving you the tools to succeed”
In my former, mid-level corporate job this tagline was thrown out to employees All. The. Time. This was uttered any time we made an investment in a new technology, CRM, call coaching technology, whatever. “We’re investing in you to make YOUR job easier.” Right. Let me interpret: “We’ve bought some new sh*t that is supposed to make you more productive. Your call volume should now also increase 20%, your output 20%, and you should be very happy we created this system so you can do more of what we want. Because of this, we’ll be able to reduce managers and increase your work load.” I left because you paid my employees that I managed literally double my salary. So yea. Take your tools and GFY
My job has run me down to the point that I don’t even feel like I’m good at any type of work. I feel like I’ll be bad at any job. I’m at the point where I feel like a failure overall. Logically I know I really have been set up to fail, not purposefully but still, and that it would’ve been hard to do much better. The people who are disappointed in me did not put me in a position to succeed even remotely. I’m in a hybrid position where both halves should be FT jobs. Even if that was the case, the 2 FT employees couldn’t meet the goals I’ve been facing. So much of what has went wrong has been fully out of my hands but it’s held against me. I’m doing everything I can and for reasons out of my control, there aren’t results to show…
