Why don't we have a song to rally around? My vote: Bullet for my Valentine- here's a war
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a free market and you should be allowed to do whatever you want with your money, but when you get to the point where you have enough money for thousands of people to be set for life, why keep going? Being extremely cruel and unforgiving to everyone beneath you just to get more of something that you already have so much of that you probably don’t truly comprehend what you have, it just seems foolish to me. Not to mention how common this mindset is with people who have massive amounts of money. I like to imagine that if I became insanely rich then I’d help others as much as possible, but who knows. Maybe money really is that powerful lol.
Sure, I got a “useless” liberal arts degree, but it's just ridiculous. Got my first “fuck off” from a professional CPA no less today at my new job. I'm just…tired. Either work at a ghetto ass factory dying of heat stroke or make a few dollars more but deal with grown ass adults whose entire job revolves around using a computer, yet they barely know how to turn it on, and it's your fault. I just want a data entry job I can do from home to ride out the impending societal collapse. I guess that's probably the dream of everyone here at this point…but yah.
I like my job and my company
Great place. not toxic, cool people, decent pay, CEO is legit. Anxiety is super low, and I no longer feel like I'm heading into a fight when my boss says 'you got a minute?' My last job was a ballsack. A huge hairy ballsack in the mouth. Among other things, i did some light PM work that I was terrible at but tried to get better. I was fairly organized but refused to be a dick so my stuff was always behind (the developers were massively overworked and understaffed, I didn't like shoving my way in line) Had an aunt die, cancer, it sucked. I told my boss this months before so he would know to expect bereavement and in case I didn't seem myself. Fast forward to the day after the funeral when I got off bereavement. He calls me in to his office, not to see how I'm…

I’m here to vent, and I basically never post, so forgive my formatting if it’s terrible. I used to work for a special kind of pharmacy. It was small but very profitable back in its heyday. I wish I had heeded the warnings on Glassdoor before I accepted the position, but I naively thought “it can’t be that bad”. Among other things, they have been raided by the FBI for illegal drug distribution. They routinely preformed what us seasoned vets called “Purges”, or arbitrarily firing a few people from every department to keep costs down. I have seen instances where drugs were shipped to a state we weren’t licensed in. Oh, and one time a manager was fired for logging onto her team’s computers after they left for the day. They were required to all use the same password, so she knew how to log on…
I need quiting advice!!
People of reddit! I come to you in dire need of advice! Today is my breaking point working as an In Room Dining Coordinator for a prestigious Inn and Spa in my area. Not only is my company overworking me, but my boss is a rude, racist, sexist, transphobic nightmare. I would go in to details now but first and foremost I need advice on how to quit. I just finished my shift for the day and I an currently sitting in my car trying to gain enough bravery to walk in to HR and tell them I'm done. I'm so anxious it feels like there's a hive of wasps buting and stinging their way out if my body. I don't want to work another day and I don't want any retaliation. I've been nktbubg but the perfect little puppet and I'm done. I have another job already lined up…
Coworker got a “raise”
I am a Lead at my company. My coworker works so hard and puts in so much overtime, more than me. I recommend him to become a lead also. They said “yeah we're working on it.” I felt good that i was helping him succeed and it cost me nothing to put in a good word so why not. He truly deserves it. today he said “i got a promotion!” i acted surprised like “no way! thats great!” but when he told me the position, it was not a lead. i told him to update his resume, he was confused. I said “are you atleast making $xx an hour now?” he said “no but im close…” and he added that “in six months, they said they will make him a lead.” I said “why would they even tell you that, why not just give it to you now, you deserve…
Throwaway account just in case Quitting my job has been something that I'd been thinking heavily about since the beginning of the year- actually, since October, but in January my boss said some inappropriate things to me (not sexual, just threatening my career with inappropriate language when I did something they didn't like, I won't go into specifics because I have a feeling it would be TOO specific) that just sat wrong. I'd already been miserable for so long because my office could easily be working from home 80% of the time but we weren't because of the boss's personal preference. We sit in a basement for 9 hours a day, when the work we DO get done takes MAYBE 3 or 4 hours. The rest of the time was just trying not to break down at my desk with nothing to do but not being allowed to leave. The…
So my sister works at a waxing salon, and today while she was with a customer someone came in and robbed the store at gunpoint. The manager, who was the only person at the front, gave the robber the money and he left, and nobody was harmed. Afterwards the police came to do their rounds of questions, take fingerprints, and left. The manager called the district manager, and the district manager insisted that the employees continue the workday. For anyone who has worked in in customer service positions and has been in similar situations, is this typical? I think it's cruel to make someone who just had a gun pointed at their face keep working as if nothing happened, but I want to know if this is expected working in customer service, or if the district manager is being a special kind of asshole.
