Is this Legal?
I work for an apartment complex (part time) that gets primarily students as their residents but is open to anyone. This building is in New York. I live on premise and every other week I have to be on call to answer our emergency phone call 24/7 or anytime the office is not open. These calls are usually for lock outs and noise complaints. I get paid minimum wage for 3 hours each night only and I must stay on premises while on call. I do not get paid past the 3 hours nightly and I must pay rent. Is this legal? Am I supposed to be paid for the hours the office is not open (which is 14ish hours a day) or just get paid the 3 hours nightly. I tried looking it up but I cannot find my type of situation and not sure what regulations apply.…
A friend was having some trouble formulating an email where they wanted to bring up the rate of inflation during an upcoming conversation with management. I drafted something up for them and they said it was really good; just in case they were right and it's any good, I thought I could share it with the community so they can use / edit it for their own needs. [Salutation], Thank you for your time and feedback during our annual performance review. Because changes to annual compensation are traditionally discussed at a time after the review, I wanted to proactively bring to the management team's attention some differences in the market for [your position / title] that might inadvertently be overlooked. As you are likely aware of due to your own compensation discussions with your management team, any year-over-year compensation change that does not match inflation is an effective pay cut.…
As the title suggests, what are the tips and tricks you think everyone in the workplace should know?

You aren’t owed wages.
Capitalists have defined the world we live in. We live in the trap. The wage is there to rent us, but that's just the stupid veneer. If escape is not an option, if by all means the world resists by property, police, and propaganda the undisturbed enjoyment of your time by yourself and those you love by whatever direction and intent is unique to you, then you are a slave. We are slaves, and our wages distract us. By all means they would pay you nothing. Better yet they desire only to pay you what you need to return to work so they may extract more from you, but if you took care of your own survival they'd be even happier! It has only been through our efforts and power that we have not all fallen so far… except for unpaid internships of course, but we can't count all the…

Why don't we have a song to rally around? My vote: Bullet for my Valentine- here's a war
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a free market and you should be allowed to do whatever you want with your money, but when you get to the point where you have enough money for thousands of people to be set for life, why keep going? Being extremely cruel and unforgiving to everyone beneath you just to get more of something that you already have so much of that you probably don’t truly comprehend what you have, it just seems foolish to me. Not to mention how common this mindset is with people who have massive amounts of money. I like to imagine that if I became insanely rich then I’d help others as much as possible, but who knows. Maybe money really is that powerful lol.
Sure, I got a “useless” liberal arts degree, but it's just ridiculous. Got my first “fuck off” from a professional CPA no less today at my new job. I'm just…tired. Either work at a ghetto ass factory dying of heat stroke or make a few dollars more but deal with grown ass adults whose entire job revolves around using a computer, yet they barely know how to turn it on, and it's your fault. I just want a data entry job I can do from home to ride out the impending societal collapse. I guess that's probably the dream of everyone here at this point…but yah.
