Once upon a time, in a world much like our own, there was a country called Economia. The people of Economia were used to a comfortable standard of living and had grown accustomed to their prosperous lifestyle. However, one day, inflation hit the country like a storm. Prices for everyday goods and services started to rise at an unprecedented rate, and before the people of Economia knew it, the cost of living had become unaffordable for the majority of the population. The government tried to contain the inflation by printing more money, but this only made the situation worse. The more money that was printed, the less value it had, and the higher the prices continued to rise. People started to lose their jobs and homes as the economy became unstable and businesses began to collapse. The banks failed, and people lost their savings. Eventually, inflation became so rampant that…
I have worked for (6) Fortune 100 companies in the IT space in my 20 year career to date and I also stick with the rule that you should never quit a job when you do not have one, and only give two weeks after you already started the new job for at least two weeks. Take two weeks vacation, sick leave, don’t show up, whatever and start your new job but do not email a resignation until you have signed your health benefits with the new company which was my milestone. Why? There is a high likelihood you will get to the new job and immediately realize it was not what was sold at the interview. Yes, yes the first two weeks are training but within that time you should be listening, asking questions, talking to co-workers, reading the benefits on the intranet and confirming that is the job…
Something I think deeply
It is an big one, that one thing that will be really hard to change physically and in minds. It's how the world operates. We must stop giving politicals and high places the POWER to decide the living conditions of the people. This never worked. Just think. WHAT IF, people regain power for themselves, GOVERN themselves and create a better world for future generations. Could the people do a better job than the current politics ? Most of humans being want a better world for themselves and whom they love. Being in this unity will bring us, human, together. Today, the world is going crazy, Political never helped and only bring misery with their choices and nonsence. It's time to shift our mind to a better solution, or at least think about it. For the people, With love.
I work in a small upscale restaurant owned by a regional restaurant group. In May, a major A-list music artist is coming to our town on concert tour. Multiple of my coworkers have bought tickets to this concert and requested off for the same day, a Saturday. Today my scheduling manager was telling me about how he has “no choice” but to deny some unlucky people’s requests off. “They’ll have to sell their tickets. What are we supposed to do, tell the owner that we’re closing the restaurant on a Saturday night because too many of our employees want to go to a concert?” The owner drives a Porsche and our restaurant is profitable af. Closing the restaurant for a single Saturday is not going to take food out of this man’s mouth. We wouldn’t even have to close, just limit reservations in accordance with the staff we have on…
I've (24M) been unemployed for a month now, and it feels so hopeless. I (along with nearly every other front desk staff member) quit my last job as an assistant manager of a spa because corporate was threatening us over quotas that were beyond our control. I thought I was putting my foot down and not allowing myself to be treated badly, but now I feel like I made a huge mistake. I've been applying to jobs for the last month and have been offered three interviews. THREE. After applying to dozens of open positions that I'm perfectly qualified for. I've been hearing that many companies are posting ghost listings to make it look like they're hiring when in reality they want to promote internally. I have completely open availability, I don't ask for workplace accommodations, and I've always thought I'm really good at interviews. I've applied for multiple positions…
Companies have exploited me my entire life and capitalism is the most destructive thing for my mental health day in and day out pushing me to severe consequences in the past. Working a painstaking job that I hate with no positives is slowly killing me. It seems impossible to get to anything I actually want to do without losing everything. Rent still has to be paid I have a family to provide for. How do you all do it? How do I get to a place where I can support myself without it driving me to the edge? Is it even possible? If not, what's the point of all of this then? How do we survive like this?
Why should workers try to find new employees due to bonus being paid out ? My work pays out 500 bucks to find workers. We all should not be responsible to find new workers for workplace.
