At least that is how I feel. It is hard to not want to give in, I barely have any money to make bills let alone feed myself.

Whitewashing slavery at its finest
Is this bonded slavery?
Hi, I work in a service based company and there's a portal(ZOHO People) in which we have to check-in and checkout everyday, if we forget we get a chance to regularize the check-in & checkout requests but if you forget it then you will not be paid for these unregularized days. I forgot to regularize 3 days(I did check-in but forgot to checkout) owing to client's work. I did fill the timesheet for these days, I did client work and my company got paid for these days on behalf of me from client end. But my company says it's their policy that if a person forget to regularize their days then those days would be considered as “Loss of Pay” days and I'll not be paid anything or given any comp off days. Is this not injustice? Is this not bonded slavery? What should I do? I can handle everything…
WWYD between these two job offers?
I’m a career account manager and salesman. I’ve always waitressed, but I’ve been doing it full time for a few months while I figure my stuff out. I started interviewing a few weeks ago, and I have 2 solid job offers that I am considering. Benefits are horrible for both, but my husband has state employee insurance, so I’m not going to factor that in. Job 1 is with a pest control company as a commercial account manager. No base pay, normal 9-5 hours with 2 Saturdays a month. I was told there would be a $36k base, but there is no such animal, just commission. Commission is paid on a graduated scale based on volume. For example, if I sell $400k, I get 19%. The big benefit to that is there’s little to no competition for pest services in the area I live in. There’s also only 1 other…
Employer playing with benefits
I recently quit working for a large firm. It was my first job after college and a job everyone told me I was lucky to have. The pay wasn’t great but they have good benefits and I was told look after employees. You really can’t trust a company. During Covid they had a commuter benefit, reimbursing travel to and from the office. When I was paying out of pocket, I found I wasn’t getting reimbursed. I applied for a company card and used it for my work travel. FIVE MONTHS after the entire benefit ended, they told me charges approved 18 months prior actually shouldn’t have been. They were incorrectly approved across two departments and four managers and needed $800 back. They sent me a sheet to sign stating this overpayment would be viewed as a loan. The use of my card was unauthorized. If I left the company or…
New: Self Evaluation at Work
Currently in a Teams Meeting and HR is going over a new process to introduce self evaluations for our yearly reviews. You give yourself points and write down your strengths and weaknesses or goals- Next to the portion you fill out about yourself, is a section for your manager(s) to add comments and their own review of you for each section. Has anyone experienced this process before and have advice on DO’s and DONT’s ? Maybe I’m being paranoid- but this feels like some of my coworkers are being set-up.
So I used to work as this hell hole of a company. I have another story in my posts about them if your curious about what actually led me to quit but this story was a close second. I was working in a factory and I was the Back up lead, which was an unofficial title that literally everyone including managers knew about. No real benefits other than not having to work the worst stations but I liked my lead at the time so helping him out wasn't a big deal for me. That being said if there was ever a time my lead was out it was up to me to take over his responsibilities and Yada Yada Yada you know the drill. Now this particular year my line had been 7 days a week since February of thar year, no days off no holidays off nothing. So when…
need advice on 0 hour issues
I work at a resort, previously I worked for a restaurant there and was terminated at the end of the summer (I have emails confirming this). the same day I was terminated from the restaraunt I was put on at a new job doing deliveries for the resort, however my previous contract was only for the previous job and the new job hasn't had me sign any contract. I've been working there from the 28th of nov with no contract AND the resort hasn't paid the termination pay as stated in my previous contract, stating I was transferred not terminated even though I have proof they told me I'm terminated. point is, I've been working without a contract for months and they might reduce me to 0 hours, essentially making me homeless, I've spoken to payroll about this and they gave me corporate bs of me having to talk to…
