Trolled and then Fired

When I posted about my problems at work, not mentioning any names there was a troll who was very specific. I hope he is just good at his craft but it made me wonder if it was actually my boss, given that he paraphrased everything I'd said. “I'm not your bud, pal. Good job standing up for yourself. I hope you get fired”…and two hours later, I was.”

Coworker called the superintendent today over the unfair pay issues, and was told forcthe 16th year they are “working on it”

I work in corrections education and we have a pay discrepancy between teachers. We all must be certified, attend the same training, and even teach the same students. However some are paid significantly more on a teacher step. The full time teachers not on the step make thousands less. My coworker started a year before their counterpart who teaches the same subject at a different institution. My coworker makes 20,000 less a year because they aren't on the step. The teacher step recognizes experience and education level. For those who wondered 🙂 So my coworker called the superintendent and got the same song and dance we always get. “We're working on it”. This time it really stung because they are raising pay for inexperienced, new officers with just a diploma, to 48,800. That's a lot more than the non step teachers like us make. It's a non-union state, and although…

Had 2 amazing job offers go down the toilet

I hate my company. With an absolute passion, as I've realized no matter how much revenue I make them, they just don't give a sh**. I received amazing offers from 2 other companies, only to have both offers pulled this week because these 2 other companies have something in their contracts with my company that they can't hire anyone from my company without properly notifying my company in advance as part of their non-poaching policies. They didn't actively recruit me, I actively approached them when I saw that there were great next step opportunities at either of the 2 companies. Part of me wants to say F*** it, notify them, I really don't care, however, if something doesn't happen with either of these offers, my current employer will make my life into a much more living hell.

This is why I hate temp work: manager who is supposed to approve my time sheet(which was submitted last week), is on VACATION and now my paycheck is delayed.

Apparently, no one else is able to approve it and my agency thinks I didn't work last week because this dipshit took a vacation and did not approve time sheets before heading out. Thanks a lot. Luckily, I am not starving and I have another job, but I am tempted to start applying elsewhere and once I get a better offer, let them know how disrespectful it is to play games with people's paychecks.

Equality is antithetical to capitalism

Even in the rosiest perception of capitalism, the employer is always in a superior position to the employee. Now, this relationship may leave the employee well-compensated, but the inequality is there regardless. Why is that? The main goal for anyone in a capitalist society is to be the employer of multiple employees whose labor you monetize for your greater profit and their lesser paycheck. However, turning a greater profit requires your employees to be in an inferior position to you. This is since two parties of equal standing negotiating in good faith can never come to an agreement which doesn't also benefit them equally. For example, I would never pay $1000 to a baker for a loaf of bread. However, if I was on the brink of starvation (a subservient position), I certainly would. The terms of the agreement hadn't changed, only our comparative standings. Under this principle, greater profits…

Is company loyalty even a thing anymore?

I have an opportunity to leave my job after two+ years of employment. The offer I have is from a company with stronger leadership, impressive tech, and much better funding. However, my current company has treated me well and I feel like I “owe” them more time. Not sure what it means to be loyal these days or if there is any benefit at all??
