Looking for ideas
So I’ve got a manager who says anyone who doesn’t show up on Christmas day is fired. Now I’m not worried about that as I can go out and get a new job tomorrow if I wanted to but I kinda wanna be petty about this and send a message. If I do get fired is there anything I can do? By the way this is in Texas
I’m fired 1 week from now?
I'm in a right-to-work and I work in two mental health clinics. Recently, I got an opportunity to transition completely over to one of the clinics with all of my clients. So I decided to put in my notice 4 weeks from now at the other clinic. This amount of time for notice (sometimes even more) is actually considered normal in mental health to help transition the care of our clients properly. However, my contract with this particular clinic apparently stated I need 2 months notice and I also hadn't officially finished 1 years worth of work with them which was also on the contract (I quit at 7 months). Now, UT is a right to work state. So when it comes down to it, I do not give any fucks about contracts that are not legally binding. My boss tried to strong arm me by mentioning the breaches in…
So this store has been open less than a year . I’m a 20 M college student and it’s a cool job just baking bread but the management is terrible . We’ve gone through two Gm’s and we now have a new one . The current assistance was once a regular shift lead but were under the impression she’s gone nuts with power . Her current habits include getting on people’s ass in front of the new gm and threatening people’s hours if they don’t show effort . I haven’t had a bad experience with her yet but today she called me into the office and asked why I was late . I was dumbfounded since I was only a minute late but she went into a lecture about punctuality . I thought she wasn’t serious so I suggested staying a minute later she said tardiness was inaceptable. When I…
Its approach is reformist, not revolutionary. Unions are lauded as the way forward, even though they keep the class structure of society intact. Socialism and communism aren't discussed in depth; memes and anecdotes about bad bosses define the extent of the conversation. An occasional shoutout to Marx happens, but again there is almost no serious Marxist analysis afterward, just shallow agreement with the general idea of “a better world.” This all seems to me like milquetoast middle class reformism that, in reality, seeks to stymy revolution and direct working class anger into constitutional channels that traditionally educated professionals control. You could even call this behavior counterrevolutionary.
Hit my head at work
Did I mess up? I hit my head in the storage room, looking for something for my boss. It was an industrial electric type box. No blood, decent bump, but after it happened, I felt woozy and sat in the steps. Stopped into health office. She said not to worry because it wasn't bleeding. I still feel pain in the area and feel pretty off. Should I have filled out an accident report? Can I still fill one out next week?
Since the company I work for is unionized, I was informed every month I would be deducted money from my pay check for union fees. Last week I finally got the deduction which was $42. To my surprise, when I checked this weeks’ I once again was deducted $42 for union fees. Could this be a mistake or are my two months worth of fees being payed back-to-back?
Sick in bed.
Sitting here sick with fever and throwing up. Still for some reason feels better then work.
I raised a huge fuss over it. Not just because I was being docked a week of pay during the holidays but we have foreign employees making $700.00 a month who need that money more than the owners do (who are currently on their way to Dubai for the holidays). The manager told me he’d talk to the owners. Then he turned around and said to me, Why can’t you just be happy we are getting a week off from work? I said, Because we aren’t getting paid for that week and it’s the holidays. He says, I’m putting my neck on the line and making myself look like an asshole by bringing this up to the owners bc you’re always so negative and don’t know how to do your job. I said, Fine then find someone else to do my job for me. And I quit. The fight was…
