I have this co-worker that goes around the office every single day M-F and tells everyone good morning. Even if your door is closed, he will open it and say good morning. I finally had to tell him that it just wasn't my thing. He is a very easy going and told me it's fine if I don't say it back, but it's just “his thing.” Well, the person in the office right next to me (60+ female) overheard this conversation and straight up said “If someone tells you good morning, you say it back!” Well, I don't like a smart ass that engages in conversations they aren't a part of, so I said “I'm just not in the mood to say it back.” HER REPLY: “I guess I was just raised different, you always say good morning back” Like WTF, I come to this office and have to spend…

Hey! So I am a high school student and barista at Starbucks, and normally work shifts from 4:00pm-9:30pm (store closes to customers at 9:00, the extra 30 is closing tasks). The Starbucks location is a 15 minute drive from my house, which isn't too bad of a commute. I would have no problem if I was consistently getting out at 9:30, but what ends up happening is that one particular shift supervisor (which is the supervisor 80% of the time I work) often has poor time management, and we end up closing much past our regular time, and we end up getting our at 10:00ish. As a high schooler, the 10:00 closing and 15 minutes back home is difficult, as I still have homework/other activities to do after, and then waking up at 6:00am the next morning. I loooove working for a million $ corporation. (Sarcasm) I can't use the real name so I'll rhyme it. I've been working at Ghettoblock for about 9 months now. I am third shift and so done with this place. It is a week until the holidays and I'm told that I have to work Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and the Wednesday before Turkey Day from 6 am to 4:30 pm. I work Monday night 10 pm and get off work in the morning at 6 until Saturday, no overtime allowed for third. But all of a sudden some management personnel decided that 3rd shift take off Friday night and come in Saturday with the morning crew for inventory. Peeps, I'm over global business taking our lives from us.

I’m pretty much wanting to be the best business owner that I can…. How can I do that? One idea I have is to hire on a person that is just like…. I’m a social worker. I’ve worked with a variety of people and I care a Lot about other people. My boss is aware of this and always talks about my “big social worker heart”. In the past 4 months, the 3 person team I was on has dwindled to only me. My on call hours have doubled. This is because I won’t let my clients (which is now all of them) go without care and I’ll work myself into the ground to make sure I’m helping them. I’ve brought up my burn out and stress and begged for some help — even hiring a part time person just for file compliance. The answer is no, not enough money.
