This counseling appointment was scheduled about a month in a half in advance. I gave her notice, and she said the shift is my responsibility unless I can get it covered. I’m freaking the fuck out because this is only my second week on the job and I don’t know anyone here. I would’ve just rescheduled the counseling appointment, but two days ago I attempted on my life and I am in an extremely distressful mental state. It got so bad that my university had to send me an email requiring me to see the dean of students because someone submitted an anonymous report about me. I just want break to start man, this semester’s been awful. And the one thing I was looking forward to (seeing a counselor) I might have to miss. I understand WHY I still need to find coverage, it’s just really scary not knowing anyone…

My (now former) company, Wireless Advocates, had a 8 am conference call today to announce that the company is shutting down effective immediately. No prior notice or reasoning whatsoever. Seems like a pretty cut and dry violation of WARN to me. Anybody have advice on next steps to ensure I get paid for the next 60 days while I’m finding another job? I’ve already called and emailed the DOL.

Greetings comrades! I’m looking to start a worker-owned business in the next 5 years or so. I’m a massage therapist in the PNW and want to start a bodywork business that is collectively owned by other massage therapists and related practitioners, like acupuncturists. Does anyone know of resources like books, articles, etc that would be helpful? I am not a paperwork kinda guy and so starting something that takes a lot of paperwork is very overwhelming! Also relevant, in my state LMTs are regulated by the health department and as businesses we need to form PLLCs vs LLC. Thanks!

I just got turned down for a fabrication job for the fourth time. I even brought in a working model steam engine I machined. I guarantee someone's cousin got that job. I'm really fighting questioning why they don't like me. I'm friendly with everyone. I just don't get it.

Is responsible for my rise in mental illness -> he is rising my cortisol levels in my body and depleting my serotonin and dopamione because i work minimum wage slave job. He is making me fat while exploiting my body and mind. When will he pay for the ruin of my life?

Depression isn't new to me and historically I've been pretty open about it in the workplace. After a recent pet death, I've been left devastated and deeply depressed. While I've been depressed in the past, my pet was always my biggest source of support (she wasn't an official ESA but she definitely met the definition). Struggling with depression stemming from her death without her here to help comfort me has made depression even harder, despite it being managed through meds and therapy. All of this to say that I am really struggling and I know it's bleeding through in my work where I already was struggling a bit. Now that I'm older and 7 years out from my first depressive episode while in the workplace, I am much more cautious about not oversharing.
