I am a full time college student. I work a part time job and this week I only worked 10 hours. I feel guilty because I feel like I appear lazy for not working more. How to shake this??
Amazon raising starting pay.
Amazon will bump the average starting pay for delivery and warehouse workers from $18/hour to more than $19/hour. Amazon says the hike will cost nearly $1B over the next year. Though small, the boost could help attract workers ahead of the holidays. Yeah that will draw some workers in, that extra $1. These fuckers are living on another planet.
Recent Wins?
Any of you lot have any recent big wins at work? For me I went to do some interviewing for a new role and the form I’m moving too just announced 26 weeks paid parental leave regardless of tenure, gender etc etc My wife and I are expecting our third 🙂
The Propaganda is Strong
Hope this is okay to post. So, I started a new job (with almost a $20k raise) and am currently in extensive training. In our down time, they encouraged us to do these online “classes”, some through their own website, some are through LinkedIn, etc. This “Human Skills Workshop” is one they suggested which includes an article about “Resilience in the Workplace” and is literally from a website called Positive Psychology. This article is really just about how to be as productive as possible at your career. There's a study about how half of a company got laid off and the “resilient” ones who survived moved up in the company. Of course, this is written in a way to be like “Look how well they did” as opposed to looking at the very real ramifications of a company laying off so many employees. Same article suggests that workers need to…
I work at a gas station mcdonald’s on a highway. The customers are rude, the children throw their cups on the floor and the moms blame me for the prices being too high. I get yelled at by my manager for the lobby being dirty when i havent stood still for 6 hours, i dont have TIME to clean lobby im either taking orders or bagging orders at every fucking second cause we have three people, THREE. One on grill two up front on counter and drive. It fucking sucks, my coworker hates drive and i hate counter but we continue to be him on drive and me on counter. I hate my job, i dread the days i work (TWO DAYS A WEEK MIND YOU). If he quits i quit, i dont fucking care. If Kayla tells me one more time to be faster im walking out. Its horrible.
boss has no boundaries.
i literally have my own office as the office manager, with fingerprint lock that only the owner and i have access to. i keep the door closed on my lunch break so no one bothers me. i’m on break right now, and slammed a taco combo during. he came in 3 separate times to give me paperwork, tell me what i need to do when i’m done eating, ask me what another employee did with x samples… i never once looked up to talk to him, and with my mouth stuffed i said WHYDONTYOUCALLHERTOASK,IMEATING i’m going to tell him i need undisturbed breaks for the third time, and my next move is to get a bar for the door and put it up every day during lunch. is there a sub for general work complaints? or entitled bosses? am i in the right place lol?
