Warehouses are modern day prisons
I have been working at warehouses for 3 1/2 years now. I have been working at my current warehouse since sepetember 2020. When I first started working it was a lot more laid back in terms of having flexibility while taking lunch or taking breaks. Recently there was a shift of management and things have gone south. We can not go out for lunch anymore( have to bring lunch), new cameras have been setup throughout the warehouse. This warehouse is starting to feel like a prison and management threatens us all the time that they can see everything we do. I am not made for this shit. I'm tired of being treated like a robot/ child. It's ridiculous. I will start looking for something else since I do not like working in a warehouse. Ohhh btw I can work up to 70 hours a week.
Background: I quit a very well liked FOH restaurant job I had friday morning after the owner refused to address a safety issue I repeatedly brought to her attention over the course of a month, which came to a head that morning in part due to her lack of response. We brought in a line cook beginning of October. Her last name looked familiar to me and I asked if she was related to someone I grew up with, someone who I knew to be a very violent individual with a long history of assaults, including myself over 20 years ago. She confirmed that she is now married to this woman. I brought this to the attention of the restaurant owner, including a detailed history of this woman's violence toward her partners, her own violence toward me, arrest records, and how this was a potential liability for the restaurant. She…
I have a meeting with my supervisor tomorrow. I suck at having conversations due to my social anxiety but I really want to get this feeling off my chest. I’ve only been at this job for about 7 months and within that time frame I’ve been assigned new duties on top of my regular duties. Let me give you all some details. I started at $13 at the front desk of a medical office as a patient advocate. I schedule, answer phone calls (patients, attorneys, medical providers), transfer calls, check in, check out, and all that jazz. Now I do that on top of working on subpoenas and records request which are very time consuming and have deadlines. My extra duties were assigned after about my 5th month. At this same time, my supervisor let all of my other coworkers know that they would be assigning new duties to them…
my horrible first job experience
for context, i was 16 years old when i got this job in may 2022. i turn 17 this month. i worked at a fast food chain restaurant located in missouri, not gonna say the name just incase, but you'll probably be able to tell the name because it is also the name of a very fast, unnatural colored hedgehog. my friend suggested the job because i was looking to make some money over the summer and she said it was nice. plus, it'd be something to put on my resume and college applications just to cushion it out. applied, gm called me the next day during World History and invited me to come in next week for interview. We will shorten her name to B. The interview went nice, i mentioned i had some learning disabilities that may need accommodation, and i might be slow to learn somd things.…
