The company I work has been remote working since March 2020, with our original office building scaling down its leasable floor plate since last year, refitting with hot dealing etc to promote hybrid working. We’ve had a new regional manager come in and it’s the classic ‘productivity is up but boomer manager want bums in seats’ even though we do not have the space now for more than half of you to be in at once. ANYWAY He sent round an email in an attempt to lure us in, stating that the office provides a place to ‘crack on with work you might not have the focus to do at home, a place to concentrate’ and also felt the need to mention that the energy price/crisis brings benefits in the form of the office radiators being on (whereas we might not put them on in our own homes during the…
“Yo, I don't like working here. Okay. But it's my job. I do the bare minimum, but I don't do less than that. So I'ma get out there, and I'ma finish my shift. And yeah, I'ma cut corners, and I'ma phone it in, but it'll never be said that Garrett McNeill did not do just enough to not get fired.” — Garrett McNeill, Superstore, Season 2: Black Friday Edit: shortened for clarity,i guess
I work in healthcare as a travel worker. Took an assignment in California with an Ohio based agency and I am currently a Minnesota resident, but from California and will move back. So I worked at this hospital where it ended kind of badly. I called out my last week due to mental health issues because it was a toxic environment and I couldnt stand it. Of course, they lied and said I never called and they “cancelled” me blah blah. I easily disproved that to my agency. Anyway, they never paid me for my final week that I did actually work. I talked to my agencies payroll person and they said the hospital isnt even responding to them. So I filed a wage theft claim with the CA board of labor due to the fact the hospital is the one withholding wages and I sent an email to a…
I walked away from my job yesterday.
I had just gotten back from a week of working at home. I had to fight to get a return to work letter. I get back and the first thing that’s said to me, (Hr)was because of my medical issues I should just quit. Why bother. I’m a disabled vet. I have been told to lie down and quit since my leg got injured. I fight everyday to keep working and living the same life that everyone else has. To be told by HR that i shouldn’t seems legitimately like discrimination. Im not going to sue or anything. I just think that’s a terrible fucking way for a company to be. I managed a whole day before her words echoing in my head all day got to me. The toxic boss sent out his hourly complaining email and I’d had it. I handed in my phone and walked away. Just…
gotta make up that 2hrs you left early.
To attend my daughter's event at school. I have to go in early today and tomorrow to make up for leaving early. I don't care about the 35bucks I'll be missing on my check. Also I work harder than any of the other 200+ employees and was sweating my ass off at 7am in 30 degree weather yesterday while everyone else was sitting at their desks in their climate controlled offices. Working for the state was a bad decision and I regret it. I just found out also that every hourly employee working for the state can get food stamps because the pay is a joke. Yeah, the benefits are good but I feel like they are there to keep the poor healthy . Benefits don't pay rent or utility bills.
Hey all, So i'm in my approaching mid 20s and I am uncomfortable with the idea of working 15-25 years to pay off a house that I cannot afford. Housing and paying for other expenses is my main hurdle in terms of having to work those 15-25 years, I have saved about 120k and am willing to compromise things I consider non-essential in order to have a lifestyle where I am more free, instead of having to work full-time for years out of neccessity. My current plan is to buy an extremely cheap property in a more rural area and spend time fixing it up. As long as I have wifi I can work remote part time for any income that I need. My parents have told me it is best for me to buy a property as an investment first in my current country, then get the place I…
