Drove an hour round trip for a job interview with a FaMiLy OwNeD junk removal business. Looked great on paper, $22/hr, full benefits package. THERE WAS NOBODY THERE. NOBODY. The place looked like a crack den, even for a junk removal business. I waited half an hour, called, texted, fucking nothing. My interview was scheduled a week in advance. What an absolute JOKE.

Feeling trapped in an endless struggle of terrible jobs and stuck in a poverty trap. I feel like I made so many mistakes.

IDK if this is the right place to post, but I feel like I am trapped. I am only surviving on benefits and bare bones insurance (I don't want give up my insurance despite it being shitty because without it, I can't transition or even survive without it), I only worked 3 jobs in my life and already felt like I made a mistake. Ever since I came out a year ago, being in the closet from when I was 16 until a year ago (I am 31 now), surviving a neglectful, ableist and transphobic family, surviving homelessness, and being housed and being on HRT and having everything figured out in my life, I feel unwelcome and uncomfortable in almost every job I was in (I worked at Chipotle pre-HRT with little to no way to cope with the fast pace and uncaring aspect of job while being stared at…

Salaried Employee wage “prorated” for inclement weather

The restaurant where I am a chef closed due to a pounding of snow in the area(NYS). We had to close 3/4 days over the work week. Now the owner is saying he will prorate our wages for those days but we can use our pto to cover it if we have any. I’ve done some research and from what I can tell you can not reduce an exempt employee’s salary due to being closed for weather. There people in this sub that are a lot smarter than me and more knowledgeable on the subject of wage law. I was hoping one of you could affirm my research and help me find a way to bring it up. I’ve worked for them for 8 years and it’s been mostly good. I don’t want to completely burn the bridge. Thank you in advance!

How do I stop my coworker from spanking me?

(Not sure if this belongs here?) So I'm in Texas and here it's mostly a Hispanic community (myself included). I work with this woman (56) who used to be in housekeeping but moved into office recently. She's kinda like the lady that's worked there forever, and everyone likes. Asking for a technical demotion

Going to be handing in a letter today at my current employer asking for a technical demotion (its not like its actually a higher role or anything). Im doing this because i applied for the premotion about 9 months ago and when i got it, it was alright. But lately, all of us at this level have being doing almost double the workload of most other employees, for an extra $1/hr which i just dont feel is worth it at all. Not when i can make my work easier and actually pick up extra work and basically be making the same amount for less work and less hassle
