This was a few years back. I worked in a design firm, and I was lucky to have my own office, as this was a fairly small company (11 people). I am of Scottish origins and I am life long Kilt wearer. A Kilt is an article of clothing, much like pants, trousers, shirts, etc. So I managed to make the case to the company about letting me wear my kilts to work, as I would continue to dress “professionally” and basically not make a fool of anyone. They knew my work ethic and my professionalism… or so I thought. This went on for a couple of years until one time there was this sort of fancy company dinner, it wasn't really a black tie sort of affair but we were expected to attend very well dressed, coat, ties, the works. So I sent an email detailing how this would…

That’s not a red flag at all…
I need help as I am at my wits end. I've had complaints regarding how myself and my co-workers have been treated at our federal job. This ranges from privacy concerns to patient safety concerns and how they treat us. I have reached out to my union over the past two years, and they have done nothing to help. Recently I went above to president of the local chapter to his boss begging for help. He turned around and sent me back to the local chapter who hasn't helped. I have about 50 co-workers that are currently helpless to fight the issues. I had to go to the whistle blowers part of my organization to finally get our concerns looked into. My problem is that I still don't trust my union and I want to bring some sort of legal or governmental hammer down on them to either shape up…
I was laid off due to health reasons( possible cancer) however they refuse to come forward because of it. I didn’t really care enough to wanna fight it. It was a small time job for eh pay. When they sent me a letter stating why I was laid off (“changing company image”) I noticed the date they said they let me go was off by a day. An extra day. I got paid for the extra day despite not working it ???? It was like 70 bucks. Will I be held accountable for this if they figure it out
Me: I am suffering from anxiety, depression and imposter syndrome my whole adult life. And obviously, I have problems telling people NO. Job So I got into this new job a sales manager. Company pretty successful to a certain level, but if you look inside, you will see that their success was just a fluke – being at a right place and a right time. Never mind. Boss is my uncle's high school friend back from Texas, so my uncle recommended me to him. “Job description? Never head of it.” I started working and their presentation slideshow(&company logo), was so bad, it made me want to puke. I said “guys, in order for me to sell, we will need at least a new presentation”. Boss goes: Sure, you can go ahead and do it. Me not being able to reject and say “NO, That's not my job responsibility” on my…
Nobody takes work seriously anymore!
My gf interviewed for a job at a well known company that she's plenty qualified for. She was turned down and we'll never know if it's because of her, or if it's because the recruiter kept talking about how he's soooo hungover from last night. Just frustrated for her putting so much time and energy into this only to have a recruiter half ass the interview and not even feign professionalism.
Is there a certain point where corporate jobs are actually worth it? My wife and most of her friends work in the same industry. They make at least 6 figures (Wife currently makes twice what I do), get bonuses, have amazing benefits, plenty of PTO, etc. Yet they're absolutely miserable and hate it. It's amazing to me that there are so many people out there who work shitty jobs for minimum wage but don't even bitch about it. Yet many people I know in corporate office jobs make 10 times what the minimum wage worker does and they're facing existential dread about their lives, even though they're otherwise comfortable. And a lot of corporate people I know started off in retail in high school and college, so it's not like they never had to work for a living. Yet the corporate jobs get all their ire. The bonuses and raises…
Time passed and I decided to email the recruiter as she said I should. I got an auto-generated email with the vague, “we're going in the other direction to find people who better fit, yadayada.” I wasn't even able to reply back to the recruiter to ask why. I feel by knowing what didn't work for them might help me grow and learn from the experience. Should I text the recruiter? She gave me her personal number. I really just want to know why. I'm 31 with a college degree and 7 years of experience in exactly what they need! And my buddy is shift lead at the location. The recruiter was out of state and the initial interview was only 11 minutes, half of which was me asking questions. Lastly, I have 2 theories on why: 1- When they said the position is $16/hour as listed,…
