About two years ago my mother died. I took a day off when she decided to refuse further care, worked my full shift the day I got the call to say she had passed and took the day off her funeral off. A month or two later, her sister passed, my aunt and mother to a cousin who really helped me a lot through my mother's passing. I took one day off to go to her funeral. A few days later I had to have a talk with my boss. He was concerned because a coworker (I don't know for sure which one, but I only work with about 8 people and only 2 have overlap with tasks with me) was very concerned I had become unreliable to come to work. I assured my boss that the only relative I had still living was my father so I would not…
Job = Money | thats it.
I want to stress that I have zero position on anything, particularly pro anti-work society or anti anti-work society, I don’t even know the definitions of each — hence my question. I know the why behind anti-work, and I am not asking about how society gets to 100% anti-work. I am only asking — what is it? Like, the antiwork cause is to problematize work, and say the problem is perfectly solved, what does that achieved-goal look like? I carefully read everything in the subreddit info bank, and I definitely still do not know the answer here. Thanks!
Already signed a contract, filled out tons of forms, had my identity confirmed and worked for a place for more than six weeks. Was contacted by the payroll department demanding I amend my 1-9 because my name is spelled differently. They are saying they can't hire me if I don't change it. Honestly, I don't mind, just feel like they made a mistake not processing my paperwork weeks ago and don't appreciate their threatening tone. Do they have to pay me for work already done?
Imma quit (it’s a bit long)
I work at a shitty Mexican/ American restaurant as a waitress, that is so unprofessional. We had a mandatory waitress meeting on September 26, it was originally at 3pm but then they changed it that day ( they sent out the changed time around 9pm) to 1pm. I did not see the messages because my phone is on do not disturb and I knew that we had a meeting at 3pm. But I didn’t know they changed it to 1pm. On the 26th, around 1pm I was in the shower getting ready. When I got out I noticed my phone had a shit ton of missed calls and my coworkers asking me where I was and why am I not at the meeting. I was told them that it is at 3pm. And they said no it was at 1pm. I went to the work group chat and read the…
Can I steal my boss’ chair?
My boss got rid of chairs in our t shirt factory today, running the conveyor belt standing up is one thing, but he expects us to hunch over a waist high table putting tags on shirts all day, it's only been three hours and my back is already giving out. On top of the pay disparity our Hispanic employees face, this is the straw breaking the camel's back, I'm definitely quitting next paycheck. I wanna be petty though. Bossman leaves about an hour after I arrive, I know I'd get fired on the spot, but would it be illegal for me to move the chair from his office onto the factory floor to sit in? I don't want to face any fines or jailtime but I think it'd be a fun little mean spirited prank
