The only reason I was able to get this job was because of my partner’s recommendation, which I am forever grateful for, but it has really sucked the life out of me. Seeing as how it’s my only source of reliable income, though, I can’t just up and leave right now. It’d be pretty bearable if I A.) Wasn’t so thanklessly overworked and B.) I’m genuinely curious about their duties and why they are compensated so much at a company when their role seems to be nothing more than taking suggestions and information from the employees below them and making the final decision on an issue. Difficult to find a job because of this
My company doubled my merit increase!
My company “awarded” me a 5% merit increase last week. I pushed back, citing my concerns about my value and inflation. I asked for 15%. During my 1v1 with my manager today, he extended an updated increase of 10%. I would have accepted 7-8%. What a nice way to start off my Monday! Keep pushing back, everyone! My company still has it's issues, but I'll overlook those issues today lol.
