I've been reliving this scenario over and over in my head all morning and I thought some of you might get a laugh from it if nothing else. I got up unreasonably early this morning to have a zoom interview for a remote role with a company in a different time zone. I've done dozens of zoom meetings since Covid hit including hosting many of my own so I would like to think I have at least a slightly above average understanding of how zoom works. I join the interview 5 minutes before it's due to begin and double check my camera angle and mic are set to the correct input device as I have headphones etc plugged in and the last thing I want is for zoom to default to the wrong input mic or speakers. The interviewer joins at the agreed time and starts introducing himself. I…
I am a caregivier and if anyone knows how much we are over worked and severely underpaid for the work we do. I enjoy caring for elders and being in the medical field…but I have worked for companies where they tried to control my hours and have Karens try to belittle me for standing up for my self anyways…I'm native American registered in a tribe in Washington state…I have applied for elder care in a local tribe where they pay me $28 an hour and pay me a dollar more for having extra certifications. Match 401k and great medical and dental. I feel welcomed and have never felt afraid for being a person of color. Even the work is still hard and work long hours I'm compensated for over time and given compensate time which my sick leave or accumulated vacation time won't be affected if I decide to use…
Landlords are parasites
I feel so ashamed for quitting. I really need a job and it took me forever to find one. But I found out I have anemia because I keep getting too dizzy and weak and nauseous from all the physical activity while working and having to leave early. I haven't been able to finish a single work day. I can't keep going in there everyday to leave early feeling sick and it affecting the rest of my night. I sent a text telling my supervisor I have to resign because my health is being negatively affected and I can't complete my job duties. He read it but never responded. It's now 2 and a half hours into what would've been my shift. I don't know what's going to happen. Is this normal for them not to respond?
A random thought hit me recently, I was laid off from my last job before of budgeting cuts and all that shit. So naturally I have to look for work and I'm currently looking for a job. So I keep on getting these phone calls and emails from So called recruiters, ones with heavy accents and most likely from or operating overseas. I filed for a job or two and never got any kind of response back from these so cold jobs. I'm wondering if these ppl are actually recruiters at all and just trying to prey on people who are down on there luck and trying to collect info from us to spam or scam us. Perhaps I'm being paranoid about this but I am simply concerned about it. So I been just ignoring these emails, marking them as spam and deleting voice mails left. I do check places…
Chaos at new job!
(Reposting as recommended by mod) Advice needed! This may be the wrong place to post, but I didn't know where else to ask and it's driving me mad. I basically am looking for validation as it's been a while since I started a new job but something tells me the way I'm feeling isn't normal. For context, I now work as a dog trainer/ kennel carer at a small business. A typical day is kennel cleaning, organizing feeds/ medication and getting all the dogs walked and socialized. However, the place always seems to be on the brink of disaster! The manager is always having mini meltdowns and ushering me into individual “meetings” where a large portion of the conversation is him talking shit about the other dog trainers and kennel assistants. He complains about how disorganized the place is and says it's their fault (hardly surprising, as there's been pretty…
Ex Boss Lied to Unemployment
I [30F] got fired last July and filed for unemployment. I had made complaints to the owner [F53] that my manager [58F] had been touching me without my consent for months and nothing was done about it. I also asked the managers once a month about why I got paid the regular rate for overtime instead of time and a half and they said it would come out on my next paycheck. It never did and I also began to ask questions why my timesheets were edited to reflect lower hours than what I worked. The owner and manager proceeded to try and bully me into quitting and when I wouldn’t they fired me. I hurt my eye at work the day I was fired and left to go to the dr that day because there was no plumbing where I worked and therefore nowhere to rinse my eye. When…
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post. It’s just the biggest work related sub lol. I recently was hired at a music venue/nightclub in New York State in a guest relation position. Basically a help desk/ merchandise job with some extra responsibilities. I did not handle any alcohol. I went through the interview, on boarding process, and first 2 shifts without any issue. It paid decently well and everything seemed fine. Although one of my co workers did note that I was the youngest person working at the club. I’m 18. My schedule hadn’t been updated, so I reached out to my manager today I received the following message: “Hey [my name], so it was brought to my attention from our HR department that you are under the age of 21. Due to [job] being a night club, all of our staff has to be 21+ older…
Really?! The water cooler!?
Here is a decent rant. Holy S, work in a small office, restaurant company on admin side, this is so dumb I had to post. Everyone with a brain knows recession is here. We offer zero benefits, the job pays the bills. Higher ups are so clueless. We have a water cooler, basic hot/cold drinking water, cost $35 a month, location the corner of a storage room. Owner who’s really owns multiple businesses that we are given tasks to work on is an ancy Nancy, wants to get rid of this monthly cost. Not opposed to tap water, but this is ridiculous. He got rid of it today with only talking to my direct coworker who oppose it. My coworker knows we like cold clean drinking water. “It’s taking up too much room, and we need to consider cash flow”… coworker literally says “okay then I will pay for it…
