Yup. I’m fucked. I worked for this person for a year doing work way above my pay grade and qualifications all because we had an agreement that I would get a recommendation letter for grad school. Fast forward loss of great employees throughout the year, no one wanting to work for the low wages, and hearing “ my employees are like my family” and here I am. Applications are due tonight, no response from my boss, and I’m expected to work at the location that’s over half an hour away in a few days. Will update, but as far as my thoughts: I am quitting if there’s no letter submitted by 7 pm, wether or not I’m going to turn in a 2 weeks notice depends on my boss’s actions from now till then.
I live in Ohio and just noticed my employeer has been changing my time sheet and deducting 30 minutes for lunch periods I never had time to take because they increased my workload and added extra tasks to be done during the time I would usually be taking my break. They told me I have to take a break and im not allowed to skip it but that just isnt possible. My shift is a little over 9 hours if that means anything. Am I protected in any way against this?
New DM taking our water away.
So, our new District Manager decided to visit my store today. She demanded a ton of things such as reorganizing and cleaning. Which is totally fine. I don’t mind that. But she noticed that our store has a water dispenser and demanded that we get rid of it and that it’s not necessary. Her comment was “It’s an extra cost and actually effects team members focus on their jobs.” I’m absolutely livid. Who thinks that it’s ok to take water away??? For awhile I was actually drinking the amount of water I should be drinking and I felt more energized! Just sucks that someone can come in here and take something that my team team and I have been enjoying away. Is there anything at I can do? Our previous DM had no problem with it at all. :/
That's almost 4 months and what feels like her 20th interview. Sometimes she meets with the same person more than once. And she still has more people to interview with. I'm assuming at this point the hiring process will be like Survivor, where the job will be awarded to the last person who doesn't ghost them or tell them to fuck off. What these companies probably don't realize is that by doing this you're losing a huge pool of talent by having 5+ rounds of interviews over multiple months (And God forbid, a skill assessment or test project!). Candidates with options aren't going to wait 4 months for you to make up your minds. Likewise, if someone is really talented in their field then they're sure to be snatched up quickly. You ever see someone suck at their job and you wonder how the hell they got there? I'm not…
Boss lied about performance
I had to resign from my job because my boss lied about my performance to his superiors in order to get me fired and hire his relative to my place. It would have been impossible to continue working there so I was forced to resign. I reported my boss to authorities but no labor law or other law was violated, thus the laws protect bosses and leave us, the plantation slaves, without legal protection. Im now unemployed, been for a while already. If I am still unemployed one year from now I feel bad about that prospect. Lying scumbag boss caused my unemployment and turned his back on me and the longer Im without a job the harder it gets to find one. How to find motivation to apply for jobs after a total betrayal by former boss?
I've been applying and out of a job for months, so I'm currently on the rollercoaster of emotions like many of you in the soul crushing endeavor of finding a job and being valued for what we're worth. So most of us have seen the typical scams from fake recruiters, asking us to download a separate messenger and all that. But here's a new one for ya. I'm also avoiding using links and exact addresses for formatting, bear with me. I recently applied on Indeed, to a data entry position, for a pretty large clothing company. Did the usual, applied on the indeed site on the 1st of the month. The very next day, I got a reply, with a subject line “re: regarding you application to (company)”. Standard, I get it. It tells me they're not choosing me but this is the reply: “The team was very impressed with…
So I got laid off my housekeeping job right before my two week vacation, which was fine, it’s breaking down my body, it doesn’t pay nearly enough to be cleaning up the messes we get, and I was getting pretty sick of the double standards for the employees vs the supervisors. Like, my boss tried to guilt trip my coworker into staying late even though my boss was literally texting her from home cause she had already left early. So yeah, they laid me off, and I just got back from my vacation. Maybe two days after I got home, I get a text from her asking if I could be ‘on call’ for them. I said yes, first mistake, but I was only expecting like two days a week. Well I already worked today, and I’m scheduled to work tomorrow and Sunday, and now she wants me to do…
Y'all this place subjected me to constant abuse. They refuse to return almost any important email, and some of these conversations were had on the phone. I was harassed, followed to my car, and subjected to danger in so many ways daily. They never documented this, so as far as they're concerned it never happened. I'm in a bind and unfortunately need to apply for assistance to be able to survive, and to be able to eat this month. But the government needs documentation of me not currently being on assignment, at the very least. And this place is flat out refusing to even provide that communication. They say I've been terminated, but also refuse to put that in writing, as well. They're stating it's “company policy” not to put this in writing. This feels evil. They're trying to impede my ability to get help. To eat. I need help.…
